Ichabod the Optimistic Canine is the most adorable comic strip I've ever seen. It follows the adventures of an adorable Corgi named Ichabod, his best friend Barnaby who's a depressed cat, and Roy, a bigger dog who tends to be angry.
Ichabod's adorable fluff butt wins him first place in a dog show. When Barnaby dropped his ice cream, Ichabod gave his to Barnaby and licked Barnaby's off the ground. When Roy called Ichabod and Barnaby children for playing with toys, Ichabod's optimism and joy for life inspired Roy to dig up his own toy and play with it again. When Roy tried to bully Ichabod about his short legs, Ichabod agreed that his legs were indeed short and started doing a nubbity nub dance.
The comic above shows that Ichabod is more than optimistic; he is also a loving, understanding friend. After coming along and trying to cheer Barnaby up, it didn't work, so instead Ichabod assured Barnaby that he was here for him and sat with him while he was sad. I love Ichabod's optimism and zest for life and I empathize with Barnaby's depression.
Roy's relationship with Ichabod is accurate; I sometimes get extremely angry with optimistic people because they can get irritating. However, as long as they aren't ridiculously overwhelming, they can bring a smile to my face just like Ichabod does not only for me but for Barnaby as well. My favorite comic with the two of them is when they're wishing on stars and Barnaby wishes to be as happy as Ichabod. Sometimes I wish I could be as happy as Ichabod too.
There are 33 comics in the series, which was created by Ayla Stardragon in 2013 and portrays Ichabod in a variety of settings, from the inside of a city trash can looking for food with Barnaby to a farm where he helps some other puppies get their ball out of a stream. You can find him and his friends here, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
