Quinto: Temptation

Pulsating light, trembling ground, throbbing sound. A tall beautiful figure stood in the middle of it all, blue eyes taking in the emotion, the adrenaline, the temptation. He felt more than heard someone approach him, a pretty brunette with unguarded brown eyes, dilated with whatever she had consumed. Her hair, longer than her shorts, had long lost whatever form it had been melded into and she stood in front of him now, her mouth letting the scent of her drink out, her words flowing into one another as if she had too much to say and not enough mouth to say it. He moved back as she moved towards him until she finally let herself fall; he had no choice but to put his arms out and catch her, lest she fall; he had always been a gentleman, and chivalry had, at least in him, never fizzled out. Alas, the movement left her neck exposed to him, at the angle he always coveted when feeding; her jugular pulsing frantically carrying blood, so much blood. He could imagine what it would feel like to let himself bite in, to suck and suck until there was nothing left for him to pry out; the coppery tang of blood mixed with whatever she had consumed in such large amounts it manifested itself in her physical reactions. It would not be as refined as pure blood, but perhaps the amount of natural chemicals would make up for that. In any other state, he would have known that it would have had no effect, but he could never think straight when surrounded by emotion, even as a human. Being who-what-he was had only exacerbated his empathy; he had never fit in and crooning had been his only outlet; he had let his emotion overwhelm it while he worked through it; he knew that many people chose to ignore how they felt, but that had never worked for him; he had tried it many times over, but it left him feeling empty but full; it was only fitting that his talent-each of his kind had a talent that made them different from all the others- was to completely sense and -to a lesser extent- influence the emotions of all those around him. At this moment, he could sense a barrage of emotions coming from all around him; they pounded him, rolled over him like waves; he felt almost dizzy with how everyone else felt. Everyone around him was giving into temptation; he felt himself move forward, bring her towards himself. Moving to a dark corner, he sat them down; she looked at him with eyes full of questions and answers and not caring which-if either- she got. He moved his lips to her neck, pausing for a moment to parting them; slowly, he let his teeth merge and elongate, forming two virtually indestructible pointed fangs; letting them graze her jugular, he felt her heart continue it's ever persistent battle to pump blood as she picked up a stray glass and swallow its contents. Her act made him press infinitesimally harder, just enough to coax a thread of blood; it migrated to his waiting mouth at which point he created another ruby thread on her porcelain neck; if she felt anything, she made no move to relay the fact. Instead, she motioned for another drink of something-anything; she was here tonight to let her inhibition fly; a knowing smile flitted across a stranger's face who moved closer. The man with his lips on her necks was all too aware so with one last sip, he concealed his handiwork and moved back; this gave the newcomer the confidence needed to approach the two and make his offer. The girl grinned gleefully as she nodded and watched him lay out perfect white lines. Neither paid any mind to the figure who slipped silently away; not able to be around impurity of emotion. But more than this push was the pull of alluring emotion of a lone wolf across the great sea of feeling surrounding him.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
