Before I begin, let me just apologize for the following rant.
I hate people, and I'm not sorry about that. Sure, I have a couple close friends who I would do anything for (you know who you are), but other than that, I really am not a people person.
Whenever I say that I hate people, I am told that I shouldn't say that and I should be sorry for saying that. But, I'm not sorry because it is the truth. I have little patience for people who do stupid things when they know that they shouldn't be doing that and honestly, it seems like that happens more often than not.
I just don't get it. Why do you have to cut me off on the highway? Why do you have to walk slower than everyone else on the planet when I'm trying to get to class? Why do you argue with the professor over what Saint Thomas Aquinas was really saying when you've only read one chapter of his works and the professor has a PhD in the teachings of Aquinas? Just please tell me why because I really don't get the point.
I'm sure that you don't mean to do these things on purpose, if you do then you really suck, but even so I can't help but feel a wave of anger when people who seem logical do the most illogical of things. I am also sure that I also do these things and there are times when people hate me too, and for that I apologize. The older I get the more I realize that with each passing day I feel more and more pity for characters such as Dwight and Squidward, whereas I used to just think they were overreacting. They weren't the crazy ones -- everyone else was. They were reacting in a completely logical way to the shenanigans of those around them.
There are times when I wish I didn't hate people, there really are. I wish I didn't just have to shake my head in disbelief at the things people choose to do as often as I do. But, no one seems to be changing. And on top of no one changing, people tend to take offense when I try to offer them a better suggestion than the choice they are about to make. When it comes down to it, I think that Darwin had it right: natural selection. If people want to choose to do things that will put their lives in danger then so be it.
Let them drink their coffee while it's still hot; there really is no need for that warning label. Shake the vending machine trying to get your Cheetos. As long as your stupid choices stop affecting mine then I will just not care anymore. But, if people want to keep doing meaningless things with the intent of bothering those around them, then in the wise words of Dwight:
