Harry Styles, oh, Harry Styles...the man of my dreams. He has wondrous hair and a superb style (haha, you get it?). Let me tell you, the man also has an amazing personality that radiates life and a real, approachable humanness. This might be the tween inside of me speaking, but it's Harry Styles. C'mon guys, the man is close to perfection.
Okay, now, let's go back in time to the days when I was 13 years old and became a "directioner." It was a stormy, Minnesota winter's day when I first stumbled upon a music video while I was attempting to do Spanish homework. Struggling to finish this horrible Spanish assignment, I thought watching that music video would afford me the perfect opportunity to take a short break.
The video started, and, not to be too dramatic, but it truly changed my teenage life. Those five boys jumping around a beach and singing a lovely tune shook my world. One Direction wasn't just a thought in my mind; it was a thriving obsession. I couldn't stop listening to them, to say the least. They took my life by storm through a slightly corny music video only three minutes in duration.
I loved One Direction and Harry Styles just a little bit more than the rest. (Sorry, boys!) In fact, using the verb "loved" sounds like quite an understatement to me, but my life was truly filled with One Direction. Posters of One Direction adorned my bedroom walls, while my school locker had miniature ones (so I could see the boys all day, every day). Waking up, the first thing I would see was One Direction. And One Direction (specifically, Mr. Styles) was the last thing I'd see before I shut my eyes at night. Now, thinking about it, I was quite excessive with the band, but, I was a kid, so it's whatever.
Recently, all my childhood dreams came true when I saw Harry Styles perform live in concert about a week ago. Harry Styles was my favorite One Direction band member and has forever held a special place in my heart. Sadly, when I was a teen, I didn't get the opportunity to see all five members of One Direction performing together, but seeing Harry Styles was enough for me. I felt complete. I know it may sound a bit odd, but my childhood dreams were realized, even if it took some seven years.
Harry Styles shook my world on July 1st and I just want to firmly thank him for that wonderful concert on that beautiful Sunday night in July. He performed "What Makes You Beautiful" and, if you were there to see it, I was beaming from ear to ear and dancing the night away to a song that defined my teenage years...dancing the night away, and sometimes bumping into the girl standing next to me, who didn't seem too happy about it.
Harry Styles, I know you're not reading this article at all, but thank you for being a wonderful human being and making me the happiest 20 year old out in this scary, crazy world. Harry, I'll probably never have the opportunity to meet you face-to-face, but I'll always love you and thank you for making my night and concluding my childhood dreams. If you're single Harry, I'm always a phone call away.
