Harry Potter Go-ing To Take Over Our Lives Again

As bad of a pun it is, it may be a reality in the future.

Harry Potter Go-ing To Take Over Our Lives Again

Potterheads rejoice! We might be getting our own augmented reality game. Harry Potter Go (working title) is the next frontier!

Pokémon Go has taken over the nation, including Auburn University’s campus. This Fall, the concourse will probably be home to even more running into each other due to Pokémon Go’s popularity. Just please don’t bike and Pokémon Go, people.

If you’re like me, Pokémon Go didn’t hit home too hard. I remember playing Pokémon as a kid, but I was more into Power Rangers and Harry Potter. My prayers were answered when a reboot of Power Rangers was announced. Then, J.K. Rowling, the queen herself, began co-writing the play and sequel to the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

It was as if all my dreams were coming true, until a petition began to sweep the web, begging the creator of Pokémon Go to create a Harry Potter themed game.

Excuse me while I squeal with excitement.

Is this really happening? Yes. Are you probably going to have to warn your parents of your impending excessive data usage? Yes. Is your life going to be consumed by this game once it is released? Oh, hell yes.

The petition, aptly named “Accio Harry Potter Go," has a goal of 40,000 signatures, and I was signature 38,529.

Now, it is not 100% confirmed, but hope is alive. There’s a lot of speculation and many false articles circling the web claiming that the creator of Pokemon Go just announced that he bought the rights to a Harry Potter Go game. Don’t believe everything you read on the internet, friends, but do believe that this game is a serious possibility.

Think of all the tasks that we would be faced with finding. Would there be Horcruxes and possibly Nargles? Could it be connected to your Pottermore account? Would both the Hogwarts and Ilvermorny schools be included? Would there be duels? Dumbledore's Army, unite.

The possibilities are endless. Go online and sign the petition. Share the news. The more attention it gets, the bigger of a chance we have at continuing to live in the Harry Potter world. I would argue that Potterheads are the most loyal, fearsome fan group to have ever existed.

As soon as you think the hype has died down, Fantastical Beasts and Where to Find Them announced. Then, the play. J.K. Rowling does so much for her fan base. Is it too much to ask for this little game? I don’t think so, especially since Pottermore was changed from gaming to reading. (I'm still not over it, for obvious reasons. I was just getting the hang of potions class.) Harry Potter fans are never satisfied and need something that they can carry with them and interact with daily.

If this does not become a reality, it will feel like the second coming of the Umbridge to me. I need an outlet to continuously release my pent up anger on Dolores Umbridge after I re-watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

It’s time to get your wands (cell phones) ready for the possibility of this amazing new game. I’m seriously curious to see how they could intertwine all of the Harry Potter universe together in order to create the best phone game to ever have been created, but I do have one request. Please, let sweet, sweet Neville Longbottom make an appearance somewhere.

What do you guys want to be included in the possible Harry Potter Go game?

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
