It's that time again, a day to give thanks.
And if you're anything like a lot of people in this world, you unfortunately can't spend Thanksgiving with your family. So you have to spend it with your friends.
And honestly, it's just as nice. Spending a day with your friends that can relate to pretty much everything you're going through? Sure, it's not the same as your grandmother's dressing or your mom's amazing macaroni and cheese. But, it's definitely enough.
This year makes the second Thanksgiving that I haven't been able to spend with my family because of work, and I know that I'm not alone.
I know we'd all to love to listen to our moms complaining that she cooked all of this food for everyone to not be eating as much as she expects them to or watching my brother get his fifth plate of food and wondering where he could possibly be putting it all.
So it's time for Friendsgiving. It's time for all of us to find a day that we're all off (because it definitely won't be on the actual holiday) and come together and eat and give thanks.
It's time for all of us to sign up for what we're going to bring to Friendsgiving (Trust me: no one is going to pay attention to it anyway and they're all just going to bring desserts).
It's time for all of us to discuss the fact that we can't actually be with our families on this particular day but it doesn't matter because these people are family as well. These co-workers, friends of friends, people in the neighborhood all have one thing in common: they all get to be with you on Thanksgiving. And that's pretty much all that matters.
No matter who you're spending it with - whether you're alone, with family, with friends, enjoy this holiday this year and make the best of it.
Happy Thanksgiving!
