When most people think of spring break, they picture crazy college kids somewhere near the beach getting into all kinds of trouble. While some college kids make big plans for this extremely relaxing time of year, I am just happy and relieved to have a relaxing spring break waiting for me when I get home.
The major part about college that no person could have prepared me for is the busy factor. When I first came to Longwood, I knew I wanted to be involved on campus in certain groups that involved my interests. Generally, that is how the atmosphere of Longwood University is, so my day-to-day life in Farmville is constantly changing and moving towards new places whether that be in class work or my social life. Sometimes I never know exactly what I am doing until the moment it happens. Don't get me wrong, the crazy spontaneity of Longwood is part of why I have never felt more content in my entire life. It's just sometimes I feel overloaded with everything just like anyone else, and I need a breather.
After being in college for a bit, I have come to find that keeping busy tends to really suit me, even when I feel like I am going out of my mind from one assignment to the next. Everything is exciting and fresh, and I just know that a little break will help rejuvenate my energy for the remainder of the semester. Also, I want to be home and catch up with my family. Lately, I have been missing watching movies and shows that only my momma understands the references to, such as "Downton Abbey" and "Game of Thrones." Lately, I have even missed some of my most beloved habits of downtime, like simply writing for the pure joy of the work rather than because an assignment is coming up.
Taking time to figure things out is vital for being a hard-working person, and that is what I want to be. I always want to do my best. However, since I am only human, a decent chunk of rest and relaxation will help me gather my mindset back to where I need to be to finish the semester successfully.
So here's to spring break!
