Happy Father's Day

Dear Dad, I Love You Lots

Hey Dad!

I just wanted to say Happy Father’s Day. While everyday should be a day to celebrate you and mother, it’s still just as cool to celebrate a day just for you.

These last 21 years I know hasn’t been easy for you to raise 2 high maintenance daughters and one low-key son, but you did it. So here’s a little thank you for all the thank you’s that need to be said yet let lost somewhere in the noise and excitement.

Thank you for always having my back and being able to pull me back into reality when I needed it most. Thank you for your level head, calm reasoning voice, and wise two-sense. But most importantly, thanks for saying the words that I need when I need it and most importantly, thank you for not saying words when words didn't need to be said.

Thank you for always holding me responsible for my finances. From making me get new bank accounts or having me extend my credit line, thank you for your advice and your constant need to make me better. But on the same note, thank you for reminding me that I really don’t need that extra shirt or new dress like I think I do.

Thank you for always standing strong with mom and requiring strict guidelines about our lives. Thank you for not letting us do what all the cool kids did in high school. I realize it more now than ever before that I’m glad I wasn’t like all the other kids doing illegal or silly things.

Thank you for reminding me to stay the path and remind me of how proud you are of me. Thanks for allowing me to complain about college and the college struggles that I face and reminding me how far I’ve come. Thanks for always being proud of Morgan, Adam, and I.

Thanks for loving Mom in such an inspirational way that makes me look forward for someone who can offer as much as you do for mom. Thanks for always working so hard for everything and instilling in me values that will forever be a part of my life. Thank you for reminding me what a true man looks like and how one should act, regardless of their circumstances.

Most of all, thank you for loving me like the best oldest daughter that you have and always making me feel special. Happy Fathers Day, love Cass.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
