What Happened When I Started Using Stitch Fix

Everyone should have their own stylist!

What Happened When I Started Using Stitch Fix

I have been an avid Stitch Fix user for almost a year now. I have received 6 fixes throughout that time and my closet has grown by 3 dresses, 3 pairs of jeans, 3 tops and a blazer. So, I thought it was about time I shared my experience with this personal stylist service so that others can start enjoying it as well.

If you're not familiar with the concept, Stitch Fix is an online personal stylist service that sends you articles of clothing, shoes and accessories. You try everything on in the comfort of your home and then keep what you love and send back what you don't. You can schedule a one time fix, or a recurring fix every month, every other month or every three months.

I currently receive mine every other month and find that it works great for me and my wallet. Now, because this is a review, I'm not going to be going into detail about how it works. But if you would like to know more, check out my fellow Odyssey writer's piece here, she does a great job explaining the process.

One of the things I like the most about Stitch Fix is the personalization. To start off, I filled out the style profile they have all their customers fill out. I also linked my style profile to my Pinterest boards. Then, on my very first fix, I could tell my stylist actually looked at my boards because she had included the same type of skirt I'd been pinning a lot of and a top that was just my style. Which brings me to another thing that I love about Stitch Fix; I absolutely love my stylist!

My stylist totally 'gets' me and my style. I have yet to receive a fix where I didn't keep at least one thing. I've discovered that I like having someone else pick out my clothes and not knowing exactly what my stylist has chosen for me. It's fun to discover what pieces she thinks will look good on me. Especially because most of the time, she's right! There have been multiple times when I've gotten something in my fix that I didn't think I would like but once I tried it on, I absolutely loved it! But it's also nice that if you feel like your stylist doesn't really 'get' your style, you can always opt for a new one on your next fix.

I also like that I have the ability to make certain requests or leave a comment about my next fix. For example, I really wanted a new dress for my college graduation ceremony. So, I left my stylist a note and she sent me a couple options. Another example, I really wanted a new pair of white jeans for the spring. However, I didn't have the time or patience to go out shopping for them. So, I left my stylist a note that I wanted white jeans and she sent me a pair in my next fix and they fit perfectly!

This brings me to the next thing that I love about Stitch Fix, the quality and fit of the clothes. Every piece that I've received has been a brand that I've never heard of but fell in love with pretty quickly, especially the jean brands (I'm looking at you, Kut from the Kloth). I made a note on my style profile that it's often hard for me to find jeans that fit because I'm very pear shaped (I have short legs and a large butt but a small waste, so jeans rarely fit me correctly). However, every pair of jeans I've been sent through Stitch Fix has fit me like a glove. I'm not sure how they do it, but it's awesome!

Overall, I absolutely love Stitch Fix! It seems like every time I wear something I got from Stitch Fix, I receive a TON of compliments. It happens so much that when someone compliments my outfit, they almost immediately ask if it's a Stitch Fix. At work, I've actually kind of become known as the Stitch Fix girl because I talk about it so much. I have even convinced at least 4 of my colleagues to try it so far. Ten out of ten would recommend!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
