Although Halloween is known as more of a children's holiday, I feel like it's only gotten more important to me as I've gotten older. Gone are the days of trick or treating until 10pm, here are the days of watching drunk girls stumble around the street half-naked at 3am. A lot has changed in my experience of Halloween from when I was kid to now when I am in college.
Here are the ways that Halloween is different when you are a kid than when you are in college:
Choosing a costume.
As a kid:
I dunno, my mom picked it out!
As a college student:
Okay, so I had this idea November 1, 2015, and based on the recent meme trends, the inevitability of the Harley Quinn costumes, I've concocted the perfect outfit for Halloween night one, then on night two...
Hearing Halloween music.
As a kid:
Oh my God, they've played all dumb these songs a million times...
As a college student:
Trick-or-Treating.
As a kid:
As a college student:
I bought give variety candy bags at Walgreens this morning, and I'm about to go HAM.
Halloween parties.
As a kid:
A lot of hyper kids with a surplus of candy.
As a college student:
A lot of drunk kids with a surplus of alcohol.
The morning after.
As a kid:
All that candy in one night takes its toll.
As a college student:
Not that much has changed; it's just a different type of hangover.
In conclusion, no matter what age you are or what stage of life you're in:
