Halloween Horror Night has officially begun, and it's going to be one of the most exciting times of the year for tourists and natives alike. There is an astounding assortment of scares this year, with classics returning and new things like "Stranger Things" making its debut. However, with all of the joy and terror that comes with this event, it isn't all fun and games. It is important to remember that those scary people popping out at you are people and that you should do your best not to do the things that make their job difficult and miserable.
1. Do not scream at the actors.

Do not get angry at the performers for scaring you. You are literally paying money to get scared and screaming and swearing at the actors for, literally, doing their jobs is just plain unacceptable. It's okay to scream in fear, but do not react belligerently with the paid actors, and do not try to intimidate them.
2. Do not hit the sets.

Do hit the sets when you're walking through the houses. They are expensive, and you could damage them which could then ruin the experience for all of the other guests. You could also hurt an actor. They hide behind those sets, and you could injure them.
3. Do not disrespect the actors.

Do not disrespect the actors. Again, you are paying to come and be scared. Please, do not choose to be unkind to the actors or disrespect them for doing their jobs. This includes saying things like "Get a real job!" or "You aren't even scary!". Also, try not to take flash photographs in their faces. That's disrespectful to the actors and the other guests.
4. Do not drink too much.

Drinking is permitted at Halloween Horror Nights. However, do not be one of those guests who gets blackout drunk. It's okay to have a good time. If you are legally able to purchase a couple of beverages, go ahead. Just don't get too rowdy or aggressive. Don't let yourself get sloppy or to the point where you're falling over. Team member and coordinator are not afraid to trespass you if you go too far.
5. Do not hit the actors.

This is the biggest one. Do NOT hit the actors. Just don't do it. I don't care if they scared you. That is exactly what they're supposed to do, and they do not need you in their face or putting your hands on them. They aren't allowed to touch you, so you shouldn't touch them. They aren't paid much, and it is not in their job description to have to take your abuse. So, if you can't keep your hands to yourself, or if you're one of the people who go to this event to purposely injure the actors, then don't bother going at all.
Halloween Horror Nights is a blast. It can be a great time if you do it right. Buy yourself a frequent fear, indulge in all of the fun, new snacks, and try to make it through as many houses as you can. Just remember to be considerate of the actors who are there all night long, doing their best to scare you and make sure you have an amazing experience.
