It seems like the year is not broken down into months anymore, it is broken up by holidays. Oct. turns to Halloween and then the moment it turns Nov. 1, the red and green decorations seem to come out of nowhere and it's already Christmas. Sorry for everyone who is so hyped for Christmas, but you can't just start the holiday when another just ended.
Christmas is probably the best holiday of the year and, coming from a member of the Jewish community, that is saying something. The lights, presents and decorations can make anyone fall in love with the season of giving, even if you do not follow the religion behind the holiday.
But, for you over-enthused people who are probably hyped up on peppermint lattes, Christmas is one day of the year. However, according to ABC Family it is also all of December. But, you cannot make it a whole two months; holidays don't work like that. I know you want to see all the old classics on TV like "Santa Clause" with Tim Allen or old cute movies that we all love, sit by the fire and drink hot coco. But Christmas has to wait it's turn. People are too lazy to take their Halloween decorations down, let alone start Christmas now.
Everyone always forgets about Thanksgiving. While the concept of Thanksgiving might be a little twisted when you really think about it, it should probably be more anticipated than Christmas.
First of all, Thanksgiving is the first time of the year that college students really get a chance to go home to see everyone. We also get a week long break that we all desperately need.
Second. Sure, we don't get presents but that is the only reason people even like Christmas in the first place. People may like the meaning behind it, but it has turned into a business holiday anyway. People would look forward to any day if it meant getting presents. I bet if we celebrated every Thursday like Christmas people would count down the days until Thursday.
Third. Even though we do not get presents on Thanksgiving, we get a lot of food. Thanksgiving is the one time of year that you can brag about how much you ate. Additionally, literally every Thanksgiving food is delicious.
The most entertaining part about this time of the year is when the first snow hits. The moment it snows I can guarantee there is a someone out there already trying on their Santa suit for a Christmas party. Just because it snows does not mean it's Christmas, it just means it's snowing. Don't be that guy who puts lights up already because then everyone knows that's the neighbor who gets way too excited about the season and forces everyone to eat their gingerbread cookies.
So much drama begins, and this year especially since America gets offended by everything now. Side note, no one cares about the Starbucks cup and it's meaning, it looked happy and I liked it. People are acting crazy over how Christmas turned into the world worshiping a fat jolly man. The only reason people even look forward to Thanksgiving is for Black Friday when they can literally kill each other for Christmas presents. This glorious holiday that is supposed to bring everyone together is so anticipated that everyone goes insane over it.
People are so obsessed with the holiday they forget the meaning and begin celebrating it two months in advance. Christmas is a time of being with your loved ones and enjoying what you have. Take the holidays one at a time and remember why you are celebrating them.
