The days of trick-or-treating have been long gone. We’ve traded in our Disney princess dresses (or if you’re like my parents, they’ll dress you up as an Oreo) for sexy schoolgirl outfits. But from a child’s perspective, Halloween is one of the most coveted holidays of the year. What’s not to love about going door to door to receive free candy? You knew it was a great night when you ended up with piles of candy to eat to your heart’s content.

So here’s a blast from the past with your favorite childhood Halloween experiences:

1. Trying to find the perfect costume.

There must’ve been countless trips made to Party City or Target in search of the perfect costume. With only having one day of the year be socially acceptable to dress up, you knew you had to have a great look.

2. Celebrating with festive Halloween parties at school.

On Halloween, we celebrated in style by having the best class parties our teacher could offer. At that age, there was practically a party for anything and everything. Plus, it was another opportunity to score free candy.

3. Rushing home to get ready for the big night.

The moment you got home, you rushed to your closet to change into your outfit of the night. Once you did, you couldn’t help, but become anxious as all you could do was wait.

4. Time to bring the pumpkin-shaped Halloween pails out.

In order to prepare for Halloween, you made sure you brought at least two Halloween pails out and told your parents to bring plastic bags just in case.

5. Meeting up with your closest friends and showing off your awesome costume (obviously you had the best one)!

You were one step closer to fulfilling your wildest dreams, receiving free candy that would last for days on end.

6. Living your best life by going door-to-door to get the candy you’ve been craving all week.

You were most excited when they offered the good stuff. I’m not talking about small snack size pretzel bags, I’m talking about the rare king size candy bars. Not to mention, it was great when a house went all out on decorations. Even more so when you stumbled upon a house that offered its own spooky maze to navigate through.

7. Trading the candy you don’t like with you friends.

Let’s be real, you were bound to get candy you didn’t like. The best solution was to trade with your friends to get what you desired.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
