I would like to state that this is a letter regarding the recent acts of hate in our beloved nation. I wish to take action against the current violence but lack the methods to do so. Therefore, this letter is the symbol of my attempt to take a step of action and make a difference in our world.

I am a 17-year-old female from Wisconsin who has become appalled with the state of violence in this country that I call a home. A home should stand as a symbol for safety and comfort, but this country that many had once seen as protection has turned into a place where the threat of danger crawls through our skin everywhere at every turn. This is in part because nowadays it has become ridiculously easy to purchase guns, which are increasingly being used in order to harm other civilians in the country.

The United States Federal Government should have already been able to collectively agree on a solution to this problem that plagues our nation because no debate is required in finding a solution to the nightmare that has taken numerous of genuine and beautiful lives. The fact that there are government leaders who refuse to pass gun laws so that the people of the US can live and breathe is beyond my imagination. When this country is in trouble, it is in the power of the USFG to attain a solution so that people stop suffering; but the entire country has been suffering for a long time now due to a non-existent course of action on gun safety.

The Founding Fathers brought together the 13 colonies to create a safe and free nation. However, recent years have proven that our nation has lost the safety it once had and the freedom of life that people once carried, simply due to a lack of government action. It’s about time there is change. It’s about time lives started being saved. Using violence against violence is not the answer; it is only a way to fuel the problem due to it fostering more hate into people. The solution, however, comes from ensuring that the tool used to cause violence is not handed to those who are incapable of handling it. Otherwise, the ability to end a life becomes a power used against others, which was never the intention when the country was first founded on the principles we look up to today. Constitutional rights are important; however, the ones who were killed by gun violence and suffered from the mistakes of the government aren’t able to enjoy these rights that are guaranteed to all citizens of the US Lives have to be saved before other freedoms are enjoyed. When the Bill of Rights was created, it was not during a time when anybody could have imagined that a simple right to bear arms would result in the mass murder we see today, this is why it is well within the boundaries of the Constitution to adopt gun laws that will better protect the people of the US.

It has become more vital than ever that this gun violence is put to an end. The children growing up in America today see the country as a dangerous place where there are shootings every week. This is not the picture that we want to paint for a nation which will eventually be led by the generation that is made up of today’s children. Our country needs hope again. Hope that there is an end to the violence that has become embedded in our society. The fate of this country needs to be changed before it is too late. This is why we need more heroes in this nation. Heroes that are prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure that the countless of innocent lives in our country are protected. It is about time the government steps up to be the heroes we want, and need them to be, and start making a difference in the lives of the people of the country they lead. Heroes put the needs of others before their own, and if they see that civilians are dying because of an increase in shootings, heroes find a solution to fight the problem of weapons falling into the wrong hands. A solution can be achieved to the existing horror if the lives of the civilians, who put their fate in the hands of government officials, are put first. It’s not too late for the leaders in the federal government to become heroes, especially now during a time when we, as a nation, are so desperate for them.

The United States of America is a country of life, a country of liberty, and a country where the people are entitled to the pursuit of happiness. It is a country that’s in desperate need of change and a promise that the right heroes will step up and make it possible for lives to be lived. It is about time the country achieves a solution to make America the nation we aspire it to be- a home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
