Gryffin’s incredible set on Wednesday night left the crowd at the Bowery Ballroom in a euphoric daze. From BORNS to Ariana Grande, HAIM, and The Weeknd, some of the hottest tracks of 2015 were amplified into EDM masterpieces, driven by pulsing bass lines and beautiful piano harmonies. The man behind the genius remixes and seamlessly blended tracks is Dan Griffith, a producer and DJ who is also half of the EDM duo The White Panda. While Griffith has been pursuing music with The White Panda since 2009, he has recently gone on to pursue a solo career with the stage name Gryffin. His remixed tracks of Maroon 5’s “Animals” and Years and Years’ “Desire” have been hugely popular and his “Desire” remix was included in the soundtrack for the film We Are Your Friends, which starred Zac Efron.
A classically trained pianist since the age of seven, Gryffin uses his musical talents as the groundwork for the reworking of his tracks. At the Bowery Ballroom, Gryffin smoothly switched from the keyboard to an electric guitar to provide live accompaniment to his set. He was joined on stage by singers and musicians, from a master electric violinist to vocalist Sizzy Rocket.
Griffith had his first ever live show at SnowGlobe music festival last december and is joining Kygo’s Cloud Nine tour for the Toronto and Chicago shows. ALthough his show at the Bowery Ballroom was only his third show, he has been stirring up the EDM scene with his unique and original sound. Just this morning, Griffith released his debut original single “Heading Home,” which features Australian singer-songwriter Josef Salvat. Gryffin has already broken the surface and there's no doubt that he'll be the next big name in the world of EDM.
