With 2015 drawing to a close, people are becoming more and more nostalgic. Whether it's thinking back on all that you achieved,--or didn't achieve-- this year, or thinking back on every year of your life leading up to this point, you're sure to be remiscing hard over these holiday weeks.
2015 has been a year full of comebacks, especially musical ones. Adele came back full force with her album "25." Missy Elliott came back with a poppin' new song and the same to-die-for dance moves. Nick Jonas came back reminding us that he still gets "jealous," soon to be followed by his brother, Joe Jonas, with DNCE and their song "Cake by the Ocean." Heck, even Iron Maiden came back with their longest studio album to date. But perhaps the greatest (or most disappointing depending on who you are) musical comeback of 2015 is Justin Bieber.
Think about it. Not only did Bieber come back from a short hiatus, he also made a comeback from being considered the literal scum of the Earth. I mean, this boy lost his respect, his dignity, and a majority of his fans, and then a whole slew of them turned on him. On top of that, he lost his beautiful girlfriend, Selena Gomez, multiple times. Break ups are hard enough for people who aren't celebrities and even harder for the ones who are celebrities also trying to overcome every bad decision they could have made in thier adult life.
But somehow Bieber did it. His newest album, Purpose, sold 649,000 copies in its first week alone, outselling One Direction's Made in the AM. This was his 6th consecutive number one, even after all that drama. Then Bieber broke the record for most simultaneous hot 100 hits, a record previously held in tie by the Beatles and Drake. That's right, even after all his mistakes, Bieber managed to break a record held by the iconic Beatles. Then he went on to perform at the VMAs, the AMAs, and more. I'd say that all of this is a pretty satisfying comeback.
Now, I fully realize that some people will never forgive Justin Bieber for his mistakes, despite the fact that he's apologized multiple times. Rolling Stone even has a list of 22 times Justin Bieber has apologized over the years.
I mean, the guy sat there and got roasted internationally while people attacked not only him but also his mother for the things he had done. And he didn't just sit there and take it. He owned up to it; he laughed at it, and in the end, he apologized. Sure, part of his apology was a joke on that monkey he got taken away at the airport on Germany, but still. The sentiment was definitely there when Bieber apologized on The Ellen Show.
