My grandma and I have a special relationship. One of her favorite stories to tell me is of when I was younger and everyone joked that I was her daughter and not my mother's because I would cling to her so much. For as long as I can remember, my grandmother and I have been inseparable.

So for her 75th birthday this year, I thought I'd share with you 75 reasons why she's my best friend.

1. My grandma always tries her best to understand where I'm coming from.

2. She's the best listener.

3. Grandma Flo constantly goes above and beyond for her family.

4. She always answers my phone calls.

5. My grandma is a Harmonizer just like I am. She keeps all of Fifth Harmony's CDs in her car.

6. We share the same love and appreciation for a good book.

7. She constantly reminds me that, "You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar."

8. My grandma never fails to remind me that she loves me.

9. She always encourages me to follow my dreams regardless of what others might think.

10. My grandma is constantly reminding me that she's proud of me.

11. Days spent with just the two of us are some of my favorite days.

12. I got my love for traveling and seeing the world from her.

13. She sends me texts to remind me that she is thinking of me even if they have an endless amount of emojis attached to them.

14. My grandma is the only person who leaves me voicemails and they all end with "I love you, Nanny."

15. She is the funniest member of my family no doubt about it.

16. She is the most patient woman that you'll ever meet.

17. My grandma taught me the true value of family.

18. She isn't afraid to speak her mind and she'll let me know exactly what she's thinking.

19. She came to every single one of my sporting events even if it was to watch me sit on the bench.

20. My grandma remembers all the little details that others seem to forget.

21. She says, "OK" to everything. She is super go-with-the-flow.

22. She always has my favorite snacks at her house.

23. My grandma was practically my chauffeur all throughout high school and now that I have my license I promise to do the same.

24. My grandma is resilient. She is the strongest woman I know.

25. She would give you the shirt right off her back and expect nothing in return.

26. She is super repetitive but that's OK because sometimes it's nice to hear just how much she loves you over and over again.

27. Without my grandma, I wouldn't be here.

28. My grandma has helped to shape me into the woman that I am today.

29. My grandma will always clear her schedule to make time for me no matter what.

30. She is one of the very few people that I can count on to have my back regardless of anything.

31. My grandma would wait up every night till I got home safe.

32. She always lets me stay at her place when I go out with my friends in Hoboken.

33. She practically raised me for a year while I was starting high school.

34. She is the best bowler I have ever met.

35. When my grandma hugs you, she squeezes you so tight that you almost never want to let go.

36. She taught me to laugh at myself.

37. She is always telling us stories about when she was younger and loves to share her memories with us.

38. She helped me write every single one of my book reports until I was able to do them on my own.

39. She is one of the smartest people that I know.

40. We both share a love of seafood.

41. I could go to my grandma for anything and everything.

42. She's saved all our photos in photo albums throughout the years.

43. She'll let us watch old family videos from when we were growing up.

44. She lets me teach her about all this cool 21st-century stuff even though she doesn't really understand it.

45. She takes selfies to post on Facebook.

46. My grandma saves any magazine with the celebrities I like on it to give to me.

47. My grandma brags about me to all her friends.

48. Whenever my grandma asks how my day went, I can tell that she genuinely cares and wants to know.

49. She is always making sure that I am OK.

50. When I don't see her for a while, she actually misses me.

51. She is one of the few people I could see everyday and not get tired of her company.

52. She tells me all the embarrassing stories from my mom's childhood.

53. We all know I'm her favorite grandchild even if she won't admit it.

54. Whenever we go on family vacations, she goes out of her way to spend time with me so I'm not alone.

55. When I was younger my grandma would rub my back and tell me all the same stories I asked for until I fell asleep.

56. She would tuck in both my imaginary friend and me when I was younger.

57. She treats my best friends as if they were her own grandkids.

58. My grandma accepts me for who I am and doesn't expect me to be anything but myself.

59. We both love black licorice.

60. Her home always felt like a safe space.

61. She is still one of the hardest working woman I know.

62. She is constantly setting an example.

63. She is always happy to see me.

64. Her smile and laugh are contagious.

65. She reminds me to never give up.

66. She can solve any problem or mess that you throw her way.

67. She laughs at all my jokes even when they aren't all that funny.

68. She is unapologetically her.

69. She is the perfect example of unconditional love.

70. I hope to have half of her energy at her age.

71. My grandma is always willing to help.

72. She gives the best advice.

73. My grandma always takes my feelings into consideration.

74. She always keeps it real.

75. She is the best grandma that anyone could ever ask for and I wouldn't trade her for the whole world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
