In This Article:

School has been out for a while now, and the relief of being out of classes is starting to wear off. We want to go back. GCU students especially, show a real love and commitment to their campus, and are most definitely missing all that dear GCU has to offer. With that in mind, I have compiled all the things GCU students miss most about their beloved campus. I know you miss these things too.

1. Chick-fil-A

Giphy

If you live in a God-forsaken land devoid of Chick-fil-A, I am so sorry. I bet you're really missing the Christian chicken right now.

2. The dorm life

Giphy

Maybe you don't miss this, but I bet you miss living with your friends and late night chats. You might miss your RA's and Life Leaders too.

3. Beach volleyball

Giphy

I never played beach volleyball and I still miss beach volleyball. It looked like loads of fun, and the whole campus could hear whenever there was a game.

4. Basketball games

Giphy

LOPES UP!!!! Basketball games are a GCU staple and without them, our lives are much less hyped.

5. The shuttle

Giphy

Bless the GCU shuttle. This service is REALLY underrated, but for those who work at the off campus office building, it is absolutely wonderful and much easier than the current summer job commute.

6. The sound of construction in the morning

Giphy

Don't you love it? Just kidding. The construction is the worst, but it is a reminder that GCU is getting bigger and better everyday! There's more to look forward to when school starts again!

7. The professors

Giphy

GCU professors are the best! Their enthusiasm, passion for teaching, and their humor make them well-loved and very much missed over the long summer months.

8. The friends

Giphy

Of course you miss friends! As soon as school lets out, everyone flocks back to their home states and your friend group is likely fragmented. Very sad.

9. Longboarders

Giphy

Almost getting run over by a long border is a daily struggle and the absence of their reckless riding makes me a little sentimental.

10. The Havocs

Giphy

Everyone loves the Havocs, especially the Havocs. Their pep might be a little stifling at times, but you know you miss their spirit a little bit.

11. Chapel

Giphy

Chapel is the best part of the week! Lots of students are definitely missing their weekly worship session.

12. Brian Muller sightings

Giphy

Seeing Brian Muller in person is an event. Probably more for students than for him, but hey, I'm sure he misses us too.

13. GCBC

Giphy

Ok, so the coffee is kind of crappy, but, the convenience is unmatched on campus, and it's the go to meet up spot, so it's great.

14. Life Group

Giphy

If you've ever been in a Life Group, you know what I mean. Life Group is awesome and SO much fun!

15. The parking

Giphy

JK. No one misses the parking.

16. The welcome week hype

Giphy

Yes! Welcome Week is so hype! I bet you can't wait to get back to campus and party it up before it's time to get to work.

17. Study nights

Giphy

Late night study sessions with friends might feel like torture in the moment, but looking back, weren't they kind of fun? I think shared suffering brings people together like no other.

18. The music that’s always coming from somewhere

Giphy

I really miss the random music that always seems to be coming from somewhere at GCU. Campus never seems to sleep.

19. The gyms

Giphy

When the gym is as convenient and free as it is on campus, I go regularly. When I'm home during the summer and gym memberships are expensive and far away, I don't go. Ever.

20. The Lopes Shop sales

Giphy

Passing the Lopes Shop and seeing that they are having a box sale literally stops my bad days in their tracks. I love a good discount.

We miss you GCU. See you in August!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
