Who Will Dominate The 2019 Grammys Awards?

In This Article:

The Grammy Award Nominations are out and there were equal snubs and surprises. We've seen our faves receive nominations while others had us going "Wait what?". This year is definitely a mixed bag and we can all take our picks of who could take home a Grammy this year. Here are some predictions of who could take home the gold in February.

1. Album Of The Year~ The Black Panther Soundtrack

Giphy

The soundtrack for the movie was produced by Kendrick Lamar and the music on it was just as fire as the movie. This is the third movie soundtrack to be nominated for Album of the Year and if it wins, it would be the first soundtrack to win it.

2. Record Of The Year~ I Like It By Cardi B, J Balvin, & Bad Bunny

Giphy

Last year we had Despacito, This year we had I Like It. Cardi B has been dominating the charts this year with her debut album, Invasion of Privacy. The major hit off the album is I Like It and it was played non-stop all summer. Latin music has crossed over to US mainstream this year and Cardi B has is killing it on all the charts.

3. Song of The Year~ This Is America By Childish Gambino

Giphy

This is America was one of the most popular songs and videos of 2018. The message and lyrics are so impactful and has been parodied so many times by everyone in America. I would be surprised if it didn't take home the Grammy this year.

4. Best New Artist~Dua Lipa

Giphy

Dua Lipa popped up in 2017 with the sleeper hit New Rules and made her name known in 2018 with her self titled album. She's also had several features with Silk City and Calvin Harris with "Electricity" and "One Kiss". Dua Lipa has already proven the New Artist Curse wrong as she has dominated music here in America and worldwide and she hasn't won yet.

5. Best Pop Album~Sweetener By Ariana Grande

Giphy

Ariana Grande has made 2018 her year with her fourth studio album "Sweetener". This new era of music for Ariana has been beautiful and a lot of personalization of self-reflection and personal growth. Every song on the album is a bop in its own way and is worthy of the nomination and win.

6. Best Pop Solo Performance~ Havana (Live) By Camila Cabello

Giphy

Camila Cabello has made her mark as a solo artist this year. She released her self titled debut album back in January and it's still breaking records in music and on the Billboard charts. CAMILA is one of the top ten albums of 2018 and deserves a seat at the Grammy table.

7. Best Rap Song~Sicko Mode B Travis Scott, Drake, & Swae Lee

Giphy

This song not only a bop in the rap sphere but in the mainstream music charts. Travis Scott is a relatively new artist and pairing up with Drake was the sugar and spice to the musical masterpiece. One of the best songs of 2018 that is a definite shoo-in to win.

8. Best Rap Album~ Astroworld By Travis Scott

Giphy

Travis Scott is the Dark Horse of Grammys this year. He's been rapping for a while but just became popular in the mainstream in the last year. His album included not just notable artists but quality music as well. The album was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks and this is Travis Scoot first nominations this year.

9. Best R&B Song~ Boo'd Up

Giphy

Everybody and their mama were bopping to this song this summer. Ella Mai is a new artist this year whose album came out in October of this year. The song Boo'd Up has become an anthem and it's still a bop after almost a year after it came out.

10. Best Music Video~ApeSh*t By Beyonce & Jay Z

Giphy

Need I say more. The Carters surprised the world with their joint album this year and a music video for their single "APESH*T". They shot the entire video in The Louvre in Paris, France. Not Paris Texas, PARI in the country of France. The put out artistry in this video celebrating blackness. One of the best music videos of the year hands down and a contender for the Grammy for Best Music Video.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
