My sophomore year of high school, I decided to take a creative writing class. This class helped me in more ways than I would like to think it did. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though we did have to read "The Yellow Wallpaper," which is an extremely strange short story. For this post, I would like to share a piece I wrote called "Grace."
"Your forgiveness, God,
is amazing.
My sin entangled me
And made me imperfect.
You said, 'I have better
Plans, dear child.'
You picked me up
Out of the wreckage.
Now I am free in
Christ.
When I was guilty.
Grace upon grace.
I looked down at my bloody hands
And, finally, I realized I
Was the worst of all.
You picked me up
And washed me
Clean, spotless.
When I was guilty.
Grace upon grace.
I remember the day
You came and changed.
My life was rearranged.
You took my blame.
When I was guilty.
Grace upon grace."
