College as Told by Gossip Girl

If you haven't watched Gossip Girl, then you probably should. It is the ultimate Netflix-binge worthy show - besides Grey's Anatomy, of course. Basically every high school/college girl has seen this show. And it you haven't...well that sounds like something the Queen B would most likely be upset about. But then again if you've never watched it, then you don't know who Queen B is - she is Blair Waldorf. Once you start watching this show, you won't be able to stop - it will be the end of all social engagement and further life plans until you were done watching the show.

Back to the point, there have been so many points throughout this year where I have thought, "What would Blair Waldorf do?" or "What would Serena Van Der Woodsen do?" I have also thought about who would be lonely boy, the golden boys, if there is a Chuck Bass, and if there is an Upper East Side on campus.

If you haven't seen Gossip Girl, you might need to start watching...like read this and then go on a Neflix-binge. But, buy some macaroons because that's what Blair Waldorf would do.

1. When you drop your latte while trying to keep your life together in the library.

2. When you're just so #blessed it's syllabus week.

3. When you see that you have two loads of laundry to do but no enough quarters or money to do it.

4. When you get four hours of sleep a night during finals week.

5. When you look at your planner and you realize you have three tests, a paper, and a project due next week.

6. When your best friend comes over and brought real food with her.

7. When you get a B on that test that you pulled an all-nighter for.

8. When you get put on academic probation because your science teacher was literally speaking German the entire time.

9. When you're reunited with your best friend over break.

10. When you run into that person who was the reason that class was the worst you've had all semester.

11. When they take away or run out of your favorite food in the cafe and it ACTUALLY looked normal/good.

12. When your professor tells you that you're one class away from failing from skipping so much.

13. When you just really want to Netflix-binge and you have a math test tomorrow (and you don't know anything really).

14. When your professor announces that the final will not be cumulative.

15. When you find out your favorite band/musician is coming to a place near your campus.

16. When you have $8 in your bank account and it's only the second week of the month.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
