So Google came out with its Google Assistant for the Allo App and as an integrated part of the new Google Pixel phones, so naturally I wanted to test it. It is actually far superior to Google Now or Siri; it has a personality and is a little addicting. Here are my 10 favorite conversations with Google's AI.
1. Getting philosophical
Here I asked Google Assistant what it thought of itself and it gave me a glitch error. I guess that's supposed to mean it cannot think for itself. Then I asked it if it could see the future, and the AI actually got a little snarky, one of the more remarkable things about the Google Assistant.
2. An Assistant that can do unit conversions
I hate doing unit conversions, they're mostly tedious. But combine Google's unit conversion mode with Google Assistant's conversation mode and unit conversion is a breeze.
3. It is in the cloud
Asking it whether it is the internet or not is pretty fun to me. Google Assistant connects to the internet and lives there, as it says for itself. But that means technically speaking, since the internet is its cognitive part, it is the internet. Right?
4. 2001: A Space Odyssey
"Open the pod bay doors HAL", with the creepy response, "Sorry Dave, I cannot do that."
It's one of the most popular movie quotes of all time. So I simply had to see what this AI would respond to it with.
5. Does it have a heart?
The Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz was looking for a heart, so does Google's AI have one? Does it face the same problem as the Tin Man? Apparently not.
6. Will it take over the world?
Come on, you just have to ask an AI that is living in the Cloud wether it is bent on world domination. I don't know how much I trust it yet though.
7. "Hello World"
The famous first words printed from a computer, and the infamous first coding lesson every student gets. Print Hello World.
8. It likes cake!
I did not think Google had the same morning routine as me. But I'm glad it also eats cake for breakfast.
9. Pokémon
Apparently it also has its favorite Pokémon, and knows the best ones. Slowbro is indeed a beast in battle.
10. Is it Skynet?
Ok so I gave it the HAL 3000 test, and it passed. But now let's ask if it's Skynet, a question we all kinda need to know the answer to. Again, I'm not sure how much I trust its answer, let's all hope it's honest.
