I love new years, I love having the hope that the new year can bring many joys, and I love the idea that you can leave all your bad habits, and all your problems in the past year. However, sadly, that cannot be the case all the time. However with the new year, we have to learn to let go. Let go of things that hurt us, let go of grudges, and most importantly let go of what isn't healthy for us. 2016 was a big year for me, honestly one of the best ones I have ever had. Many things happened that I am really happy about, and some sad ones that taught me to grow. I turned 18 this year, which seemed like a big deal to me at the time. I spent a lot of time with friends and family, I was healthy, and for that I am thankful. I graduated high school and then started college this year. Which makes it obvious that 2016 was also a very very stressful year. Not only that but I started driving in 2016 which means I got my first car!
As you can tell 2016 was a big year for me like I said before. However 2016 was also a sad year, many things happened that I would not like to remember therefore I won't list them. However throughout all these things I had the help of my family and friends to make it through, even at the times where I thought I couldn't. This year also helped me focus more on my religion, which is one of the main reasons I was able to finally realize how lucky I am to have everything that I have at the end of the year.
All of the time I hear people complain about the year they had and yes I understand that in 12 months a lot can happen and not all can be good, however we just have to realize that we made it one more year. We have to look at it from a different perspective. After 12 am on January 1st we can start to try again. We obviously can't start over, however we can try to better ourselves. If there are certain things that we would like to change about ourselves, this is the chance to do it. It is the chance to change who we are and become a better version of us as much as we can. It's not the time for one new years resolution, make as many as you want. Commit to making all those resolutions come true.
2016 truly was a good year for me however, I can't wait to see what 2017 has in store for me. Saying bye to 2016 is sad, but 2017 is going to be so much better I can feel it. Thank you 2016, thank you for bringing so many blessings and so many things to be thankful for. However, thank you for also b ringing me the sadness you brought me. All of that taught me to be stronger and it taught me that I can handle much more than I know. So thank you for everything 2016, and 2017, bring it on!
