Goodbye Summer 2016, Some Summer Quotes To Get You To Summer 2017

As summer 2016 comes to an end and school begins once again, there are some timeless summer quotes that can help bring a little bit of the summer-vibe to you again whenever and whereever you may need it.

"Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

"My soul is full of longing / For the secret of the sea / And the heart of the great ocean / Sends a thrilling pulse through me" ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"A sunset is the sun’s fiery kiss to the night." ~ Crystal Woods

"Sunsets. The illusion either above the horizon or below it. When day and night are linked in a way that cannot be one without the other, yet they cannot exist at the same time." ~ Ebelsain Villegas

"You know the greatest danger facing us is ourselves, an irrational fear of the unknown. But there’s no such thing as the unknown — only things temporarily hidden, temporarily not understood.” ~ Captain Kirk

While this doesn't have to do with summer, summer is the best time to go on an adventure, to allow your curiosity to take you to new places. Explore the unknown, do not be afraid of things just not yet explored.

"All in all, it was a never-to-be-forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world." ~ L. M. Montgomery

"Summer is the annual permission slip to be lazy. To do nothing and have it count for something. To lie in the grass and count the stars. To sit on a branch and study the clouds." ~ Regina Brett

"August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time.” ~ Sylvia Plath

"The crickets felt it was their duty to warn everybody that summertime cannot last for ever. Even on the most beautiful days in the whole year – the days when summer is changing into autumn – the crickets spread the rumor of sadness and change." ~ E. B. White

"Swimming is normal for me. I'm relaxed. I'm comfortable, and I know my surroundings. It's my home." ~Michael Phelps

Because we all know the best swimming happens in the summer!

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the

trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar

conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald

"What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness." ~ John Steinbeck

"The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color." ~ Natalie Babbitt "Summertime is always the best of what might be." ~ Charles Bowden

Here's to the wonderful summer of 2016 and to an even better summer of 2017!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
