Like every other episode, Season 2 Episode 2 of "Rick & Morty" was amazing, hilarious and action-packed. We're introduced to Fart who can hit those notes really well. Twice in the episode, we hear the song "Goodbye Moonmen" and although it's easy to pass over it since Fart is going on a killing streak, the song is DEEP, Fart is woke, and the song is saying the only way for true peace and love is the extinction of humanity, humans being the first on the list.
Here's what Genius has to say:
"On the surface, the song is about peace, unity and happiness, but, as with many aspects of the show, there is a deeper, less obvious interpretation in which “Fart” perceives the human race (and all corporeal beings) to be destructive.
In essence, by singing this song, 'Fart' is advocating that the only way the cosmos can be without hatred is to eliminate humanity."
Here's the song (listen along with the lyrics below):
Goodbye Moonmen by Fart
The worlds can be one together
Cosmos without hatred
Stars like diamonds in your eyes
The ground can be space (space, space, space, space)
With feet marching towards a peaceful sky
All the Moonmen want things their way
But we make sure they see the sun
Goodbye, Moonmen
We say goodbye, Moonmen
Goodbye, Moonmen
Goodbye, Moonmen
Oh, goodbye
...
Cosmos without hatred
Diamond stars of cosmic light
Quasars shine through endless nights
And everything is one in the beauty
And now we say goodbye, Moonmen
We say goodbye, Moonmen
Goodbye, Moonmen
Goodbye, Moonmen
Oh, goodbye
