Going to a Small College

It is better than a big campus.

Going to a Small College

Going to a small college can be a great thing. There are so many reasons and benefits to going to a small college.

1.The atmosphere

When going to a small college you can get to know more people than going to a big college. People can also be friendlier.

2.Getting to class

Being able to get up 10 minutes before your class starts because it only takes two minutes to walk to class is always a plus. College kids love to sleep. Any way to sleep more can always to a great thing. Oh, and you don’t have to run across campus if you are running late to class.

3.Smaller classes

In a small classroom you can get more one-on-one time with the professor and the teacher will know your name. You can also get to know everyone in the class better and know all of their names.

4.Office time

Teachers will be in their offices more. You can have a 20-30 minute talk rather than a 5-10 minute talk with your professor. You can be more comfortable talking to them in their office. They will make note of your name.

5. Tought by professors not assistants

This will show that the professor knows more things than the assistant, so that way you can learn more than you would with an assistant.

6.Academic adviser

Your academic adviser can be a lot more helpful in a small college. They can learn your name and the major you would like to be within one meeting and into the next one. They can get to know you better than they would at a big college.

7. Extracurricular

In a big college there may not be as many clubs that people can join. In a small college there can be more clubs and less people in the clubs. Also, when in that club, there can be more activities or events that can be put on all around the school.

8.Getting around

You can get around a whole campus in 10 minutes. If you need to get to a play in a theate, or to the dining hall it won’t take you very long to get there.

9.Less intimidating

When going to a big colleg, you see the campus and it can be a little intimidating and scary. You don’t know where to go or where to be. Also, there are lots and lots of people. When you are in a small college it's not that intimidating. You know where everything is.

10.Everyone can get to know you

In smaller campuses there are less faces to know. You see each other every day either going or coming to class even if you are not in a class together, and you can say hi to them each day. In a big college, you may see the same face’s everyone in a while, but you won’t see them each day you go to class.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
