Going Greek At Longwood University Is A Wonderful Opportunity

It's all Greek to me now.

There is a really cute quote that I have seen all over social media recently, "your vibe attracts your tribe." At a glance, I find myself repeating the quote due to the creatively catchy rhyme. However, when I really stop and think about what this quote means for me in my day to day life, I find it means that who I am will affect the kind of people who will enter my life. After being at college for a little while now, I see how going Greek here at Longwood University is much more than simply joining a sorority or fraternity, but a friendly, social way to express yourself and find your tribe!

Truth be told, I admit I was much quieter when I was younger. During elementary school, I had yet to find an awareness that I wanted to seek out a tribe to belong to. At the time, my sole purpose and motivation in life was to read books, which caused me to be labeled with adjectives like 'quiet' that just don't belong in my characteristics. Finding new and true friends that could become part of this tribe became easier throughout middle and high school. I even found a stable meaning of home in a few of my friends back home. Then, I entered Longwood University with an open-minded willingness to find my tribe in whatever form that may take.

Now I know the term 'sorority' can instantly paint this image of girls being catty and/or unsupportive of each other with loads of drama all over the place. Well, I would like to clear the air because that ideal exists entirely in movies, NOT reality. That is one of the main reasons why I am so stoked about going Greek at Longwood because every sorority is so kind to one another. Half the time I scroll through my social media and see ads that show sororities coming together for different charity events. Every sorority simply has their goals of finding new tribe members and promoting goodness for their different philanthropies.

I believe in my ability to find my tribe by going Greek because all I want is to further broaden my horizons as much as I possibly can in my life. I usually trust my instincts when it comes to my taste in friends and loved ones, so a moment will hit me when I feel at home with a sorority at Longwood University. Until that dire moment sparks me like lightning, I will wait and make sure that my vibe really does attract my tribe.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
