Although it may be quite difficult to leave home after a long period of time, you love school and feel like the best version of yourself there. Some things change, but mostly, everything is the same. I mean, weren't you ready to go back to being your own person anyway... You know, no rules?

1. It is FREEZING!!!!!

While you were sunning yourself on a beautiful beach, the temperatures dropped by the second. You’re basically going back to the tundra. By freezing, I don't just mean zip up your jacket and throw on a cute scarf. I mean literally freezing to the point where you're gasping for air and touching your nose to make sure it hasn't fallen off.

2. As excited as you are to get back to school, you’re totally going to miss home.

More than you did when you came back from Thanksgiving. It’s understandable; we were home for a few weeks, and that started to feel normal again. But welcome back to the sylly week. Spring break isn’t too far away.

3. It’s totally strange to start new classes in the middle of the year.

We’re all used to having the same schedules and routines for the whole academic year, but that is now a thing of the past. Coming back and starting over is refreshing but also feels funny. Hey, look on the bright side; at least you had no homework over break!

4. Remember that senioritis you had a few months ago? It’s back.

You couldn't care less about school for a minute, but once you're back into the swing of things… to the library, we go! The school part of school is so important, and although you’ll never truly forget that, getting back into it takes a little bit of adjusting.

5. College is the best place on Earth, and you wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

You are as happy as can be at this new place you call home. As freezing and snowy or hot and sticky and challenging it may be, you would not trade this chapter of your life for anything in the world. Your school is your happy place. Don’t forget how lucky you are to be there.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
