There are two types of people in the world: people that love the first day of classes, and people that hate it. Some of us are ready to start the semester strong and full of excitement while others of us wish the summer would never end. I know I personally was not someone who was excited for the semester to start. When I first woke up for my classes, all I wanted to do was run to the beach, instead of run to campus. Here is a list of feelings I'm sure many of you had on the first day.
1. When your alarm clock went of at 7 a.m. you were ready to start the day. You knew this semester was the one where you would finally lift your GPA up and you would impress your professors to the fullest. You jumped out of bed and put on your cutest outfit, picked up your already packed book bag, and headed for campus.
RIGHT?
2. Wrong. I'm sure many of you felt like I did when I woke up. You probably wanted to curl back in a ball and pretend like classes weren't happening at all.
When you finally got enough energy to roll out of bed, it was time to pick the perfect back to class outfit. While many people on campus probably selected their most stylish outfit beforehand, I know many others didn't think twice about what they wore. Naturally, I'm sure you went with a big T-shirt and work out shorts, or even you just wore what you wore to bed. No one has time to plan an outfit only for sitting in class all day. Anyway, who is there to impress?
3. When you leave your dorm or apartment to head to class you don't even care that everyone else had seemed to dress up for class and you hadn't. You notice people judging you but you really don't care.
4. When you eventually go to your first class you pulled probably pulled out a notebook and a pen to take notes with. You thought that it was going to be okay and the new semester would maybe bring interesting classes. But then the professor started talking in the most boring monotone voice and you knew that the semester was going to be the same as all the others: boring and long.
5. When your classes for the day finally ended you only felt a sense of freedom.
And for the rest of the semester, you'll keep telling yourself that this semester gets you that much closer to graduation.
