Have you always wondered why things happen in your life?

God Actually Does Have A Plan For Your Life
Catherine Linnihan

We often wonder why God allows certain things to happen in our lives. We always question why something particular has taken place in our lives, while assuming it is going to make our lives different in a bad way. When events like this takes place in our lives, we need to stop and see what God is doing in our lives or what is actually happening. Most of the time, we jump ahead of things and assume that whatever is happening in our life is going to be a bad thing, when sometimes, it is something that is good in the long run!

This past week, I started my first week of college. I had some things that I thought would turn out bad during the moment, but during the day and even throughout the week, it turned out to be a good thing! I have a 8 a.m. class three times every week, and at the beginning of the week when we were looking at our schedules and planning the week out, I thought the 8 a.m. classes would be bad, but when I started classes Wednesday, I realized that it was not so bad like I thought it would be. In fact, I came to the conclusion that going to a New Testament class first thing in the mornings was a great thing because I was able to sit in on a lecture type of class that was being taught with the history from the Bible and the meaning behind the books in the Bible. I mean, think about it, what better way to start out your day of classes than that?

Another situation that took place this week was when I was not for sure about where to go to church for Wednesday night. I had thought about going to the same church I visited that Sunday, but I still was unsure because I did not know who all was going, but I talked myself into going with a couple of my friends. I am so glad I went Wednesday night because it was awesome! The Lord worked and showed out during worship and through the preaching. It is so hard to pick a church to join when you are unsure about everything and how each church does it differently.

Before I went to bed, I sat in my bed looking back to what my day consisted of and I saw how God worked in my life, by giving me great professors, doing great things in my life through a local college ministry at Morrison Heights, having the opportunity to make new friends that I will cherish forever, and giving me the amazing opportunity to be apart of Mississippi College!

I have a challenge for you: Will you let God work in your life whenever something happens, whether it is good or bad? Most of the time, the situations will turn out to be a good thing, it might take some time to see that what has happened is a good thing, but God will make it evident when He wants you to see it. During hard times or uncertain times, lean on Jesus and pray about the situation. Jesus is the only source of our strength that we have, so why not lean on Him? When God works in our lives, and other people around us notice it, it sometimes encourages them to keep trusting in God or possibly trust in Christ for the first time!

So, whatever is going on in your life, just remember that God has a plan for you and His plans are always great because He knows exactly what you are going through and how you are going to react to it, even before the situation happens! Like my youth pastor from my hometown states we need to have this mindset and prayer everyday, "Lord, I put the 'yes' on the table today." By praying this, we will have the mindset of seeing how God is working in our lives when we do not see how He is working at that moment.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
