Ever since the show ended after seven seasons in 2007, fans of the CW hit show "Gilmore Girls" begged for more. For a long time, many believed a movie would be made to tie up loose ends left from the series finale. Once the show had been off the air for a few years, though, talks died down and not much was said after that — not until nearly 10 years later. In October of 2015, speculations about a proper "Gilmore Girls" reunion hit a brand-new peak. News broke that Netflix was planning on reuniting the entire cast for a brand-new season made up of four 90-minute episodes, each focusing on a different season throughout the course of a year in Stars Hollow. Fans of the CW show have always wished for a reunion, and with fans of "The X Files," "Arrested Development," "24," and even "Full House" all getting the coveted new episodes, it was only a matter of time before the Stars Hollow residents got what they deserved.
Not much was heard after this in terms of breaking news, but more and more cast members slowly began to surface throughout the course of the next year. Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and all the other main cast members announced their return one by one. The big name still at the top of everyone’s wish list was Melissa McCarthy (Sookie, to fans of the show), who had said on Twitter that she was never even asked to return. She claimed that she had a lot on her schedule, and she was not even sure if she would be able to come back even if she was offered her part back. In April of 2016, McCarthy surprised everyone with an announcement on "Ellen" that she would in fact be making an appearance.
Things only continued to get better from there. On May 19, the official title was revealed: "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life." Lauren Graham confirmed the title on "Ellen" the next day. While no official release date has been announced yet, fans can wait patiently, cup of coffee in hand, and find comfort in the fact that they’ll officially be getting a reunion once and for all.
