Gift Ideas For The Tom Haverford In Your Life

Toms can be tricky, and I wouldn't want to see you fail and possibly lose a friend because of a poor gift.

All of us have a friend who is a "Tom" -- a mega diva who likes nice things, celebrities, and constant praise. It may be hard finding the perfect gift for them because they're not only high maintenance but also have very specific preferences and opinions. You wouldn't want your friendship with them to be dunzo by buying them the wrong gift. As long as you follow these very specific suggestions perfectly, you should be fine.

A Binder

This is a total Leslie move, but we all know that Tom loves Leslie (deep down). Except, instead of a giant binder stuffed with project ideas, give them an empty binder in which they can fill with their non-stop, groundbreaking and game-changing ideas.

Money

It's no surprise that Toms like money. They enjoy nice things and have developed a specific lifestyle in which they maintain by having ridiculous, expensive things. He is also always looking for business opportunities, and in order to invest in something, he needs a large amount of money that he can't guarantee he'll get back. So, money is the perfect gift for someone who has a lifestyle and entrepreneurship mentality like Tom.

Music (Because they already have an iPod)

Specifically, the best of R&B. I would be careful in selecting music, though, because it has to be amazing in order to not offend them in thinking they'd like a bad song. Tom requires a series of rigorous tests before a song can be considered a "banger." He once accidentally downloaded a Lumineers song and had to "throw away his whole computer just to be safe." We wouldn't want a tragic moment like that to be repeated... So, maybe give them an iTunes gift card and let them decide if it's worthy or not.

Anything With Their Name Or Face On It

Toms are undoubtedly vain. But it's okay because we still love them. They are constantly talking about themselves, how attractive they are and how everyone loves them. Although, I doubt anyone is as narcissistic as the Tom Haverford.

Red Carpet Shoe Insoles

For someone who is obsessed with fame and famous people, you can't go wrong with this thoughtful gift that just keeps on giving. If your friend is a true Tom-type diva, though, they will probably already have them.

Moisturizers, Face Masks or Exfoliators

Tom likes his skin to be baby soft and is constantly talking about eye creams and other fancy products that help him to maintain his perfect skin treatment. The Tom in your life enjoys things like lotion, so they would appreciate you if you got them a gift they can actually use.

A Mini-Horse

R.I.P. Li'l Sebastian

OK, not just any mini-horse. If you could bring back Li'l Sebastian from sweet horsey heaven, that would be preferable. Every person in their right mind loves Li'l Sebastian and Tom is no exception. But, I guess if you for some reason can't make that happen, a little puppy would do.

Gift Cards

When in doubt, a gift card is a perfect gift. Preferably to places like spas, expensive jewelry stores, ridiculous clothing stores, and high-end restaurants. Nothing could be better for your Tom than a ton of money to their favorite places so they can treat themselves whenever they want, because you don't want the wrath of accidentally buying the wrong bejeweled fedora or cashmere turtleneck.

I hope these pointers are helpful for treating that special diva in your life. Toms can be tricky, and I wouldn't want to see you fail and possibly lose a friend because of a poor gift. So, good luck in your extravagant shopping spree and don't forget who you're shopping for.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
