Which is most of the time, tbh.

I've learned that some people are inherently difficult to buy gifts for.

Even if you know them really well, you still may have no idea what to get for them that would make them happy and let them know that you care. Here are 7 ideas for when you can't figure out what to get for someone:

1. A copy of your favorite book

Sharing something you love with the ones you love is a great idea. Giving your favorite book as a gift can be deeply sentimental and meaningful, especially if you tell them why you love it and why you think they will too.

2. Dinner at a restaurant they love

Giphy

Everybody needs to eat, and giving the gift of good food (and great company, obviously) is a foolproof idea. You can even spring for dessert!

3. A birthday cake

Buying them a birthday treat – or even making it yourself – is a wonderful way to show someone you care about them. Also acceptable: cookies, brownies, cupcakes, pretty much anything that tastes good.

4. Something useful

These might not be the most interesting gifts, but they'll always be appreciated. A nice set of pens, a planner for organizing their year, or even some quality kitchenware are pretty foolproof gifts for when you don't know what to get.

5. Something for their pet

Giphy

Many pet owners (at least the good ones) treat their animals like royalty, and chances are they'll find any gift for their pet adorable. A new bowl or collar are cute ideas that many people would appreciate.

6. A day out

Giphy

You can take them to a movie, a museum they love, their favorite beach – somewhere they might not go by themselves.

7. Something homemade

Giphy

If you're artistically inclined, you can make them something personalized just for them. It's unique, so at least you'll know that no one will get them the same gift.

Happy shopping!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
