Your belly is full of yummy carbs: yams, stuffing, and pumpkin pie galore. It’s been a great break and you may or may not have done some school work, no judging here. But the weird gap between Thanksgiving and winter break has snuck up and it truly feels like that week between Christmas and the New Year, where you have no idea what day of the week it is and what’s going on.
Now, it’s time to knuckle down and prep for finals and be rewarded with a month of sweet freedom. It’s rough, but we’ve all been there. Here are five moments everyone has grappled with during this weird little gap.
1. Checking out your syllabuses (syllabi? Someone help me out here) and realizing you can count the number of class days you have left on one hand.
Five … four … three … two … one! SURPRISE! Happy Finals Week!
2. And while skimming that syllabus, realizing how much the final exam/paper/project is worth.
It should be illegal for a final to be worth more than 35%, and even that’s extreme. Nuff said.
3. Getting prompts and outlines for said finals, and then realizing there are less than two weeks to get ish done.
A whole semester of statistics in two weeks? I’ve always said challenge is my middle name.
4. Stress eating your Thanksgiving leftovers.
5. When you and your roommate are both feeling the pressure, and your dorm is about to turn into an MMA ring.
Neither of you has slept great since the break, and you’re locked in your room working the next few weeks away. A little tension is normal. Just wait until you get your RA’s seal of approval before letting people bet on the Battle of the Roommates.
Best of luck to all on your finals! Study hard and if all else fails, may the curve be ever in your favor.
