Lately, I've been having trouble coming up with things to write about for Odyssey and the writing that I do in private. I don't know if it is the busyness of the last few weeks of the semester or if it's just my brain deciding to be nonfunctional, but it's been really difficult to come up with topics to write about.

Usually when I have writer's block, I try my best to search for something interesting or culturally relevant to write about. Since this is relevant to my life right now (though I wouldn't consider it culturally relevant), I have compiled a list of 3 ways to deal with writer's block for when you are struggling to figure out a specific topic or event to write about.

1. Search on the Internet

When I'm unsure of what to write about, my go-to source is the Internet. By "search on the Internet," I don't mean steal other people's ideas and write about those. Start looking for interesting things that are going on in the news, art, and entertainment. There's definitely a possibility that you will be able to find something that is significant enough to write about.

2. Ask around

Another really good way to figure out what you want to write is to ask your friends and family. Since your writer's block is stopping your brain from coming up with good ideas, you can use someone else's to do the job for you! It's a win-win situation. In my experience, I usually will ask a friend/family member what to write about and alter the idea to my liking instead of doing exactly what they suggested.

3. Download an app

There are so many different applications available that provide prompts and other ideas to end your writer's block. It makes it super easy to come up with ideas and topics to write about. One app that comes to mind is Prompts, which I often use when my mind is drawing a blank in terms of topics to write about. If you don't own a phone, there are also many websites that offer the same services for free.

Writing can be really difficult and time-consuming, but in the end, it's super rewarding. I love writing and wouldn't trade it for any other prospective career in the world!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
