Everyone Should Have A Game Group

Not too long ago I was invited into a group to play Dungeons and Dragons. I had no idea how to play but was excited nonetheless. I am so glad that I joined because I still look forward to our sessions every month and always have a blast.

I think everyone should be in some type of game group. Friends, games, food and drinks, it doesn't get much better than that. I get to hang out with my brother and three of his friends, be one of the guys for a day and nerd out. It's pretty sweet if you ask me.

I wrote an article about being in a book club and why I think people should join one. You can find that one here. The reasons kind of go along with this, but a tad different.

There's still socializing, and learning new things. I love games but would've never tried a roleplaying game like Dungeons and Dragons had I not joined this group. I made new friends as well. They may be more my brothers, but when we get together we're all friends. There is no "deadline" per say. However, I like that we set dates to play. I get excited and know when I get to do it again. Whereas with other games it's sort of random and when people are in the mood. Also, as I've said, it's fun.

Roleplaying games are also kind of like a book, but you're writing the story. You are the character and you get to put yourself somewhere else and live this new life. You're writing the book.

I love kind of "nerding" out for a little while, and despite my family tuning me out and having no idea what I'm saying, coming home and blabbing on about how the session went is awesome. Getting to talk with my family about something like this, even if they don't really listen to me, is nice.

My favorite is just getting away from the real world for a little while. I'm not sitting at home on my phone or goofing around on my laptop, I'm out, with friends, actually doing something. Even if that something is sitting around drinking and roleplaying.

I think that's the importance of having a game group. Getting out. Stepping away from the technology that now surrounds us and playing a game. With all these new consoles and video games, a lot of people overlook a classic board game or another type. I love board and card games, but it's so hard to find people willing to sit down and play them with me. Even if I can get them to, the phone is still always there.

I'm all for the real games: Monopoly, Clue, Risk, etc. I love games and I wish I could find more people to play with me. I actually have resorted to playing games by myself, yes it can be done or teaching the older kids at my daycare how to play games so that they will join me.

I urge you to find some friends and get together for some games. I think that would be awesome, to just get together and have a game night. For now, I'll settle for my game days, but I'll be waiting till I can get some friends together and just play random games all night or something of the sorts.

For now, shout out to my gaming squad. Thanks for introducing me to your world and accepting me. Thanks for making that one day a month so much fun. Thanks for being my friends.

Who else out there wishes they could play games more often? Do any of you have your own game group? What is your favorite game to play?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
