10 Ways To Celebrate Galentine’s Day With Your Besties

10 Ways To Celebrate Galentine's Day With Your Favorite Gals Who Love You More Than Any Guy Will

Whether you're a single pringle or not, having a good time with your BFFs can be the perfect Valentine's Day treat.

I know, I know, Valentine's Day is traditionally a day of romance, but it's also a day of love, and love doesn't have to only be romantic.

So, whether you're a single pringle or not, spending some part of this special day appreciating or sharing that love with your best friends can be a perfect Valentine's Day treat.

1. Have a spa day (or night).

Pamper yourself (and your gals)!!! There's no day like Valentine's Day to paint your nails, fix your hair and feel good in some PJs with your besties.

2. Share the love with some sweet treats!

Buy your besties some chocolate, go out and get some Cook Out milkshakes, and just get something that you think is a nice sweet treat for this day of love!

3. Send a few candy-grams.

I don’t know about you, but receiving a candy gram from my bestie would probably be just about the highlight of my Valentine’s Day, so treat yourself and your friends to some sweet treats!

4. Go the movies!

Go see a movie! Maybe it’s one that you really want to see, or maybe it’s something random that you just want to give a try. Either way, grab some popcorn and treat yourself to a movie night!

5. Do schoolwork together.

OK, so I recognize that everyone is busy, and Valentine's Day might be just the same in terms of how much homework you might have to do. That being said, grab a couple of bestie, and have a group homework night or a group study session. Just being together and getting stuff done is always fun.

6. Go to dinner together.

Food is always a good time, so if nothing else, go grab dinner! It's a good way to find the time to get together, and can be used as a way to start some good conversations with friends you might not have seen in a while.

7. Have a self-care night!

We talked about this a little already, but taking care of yourself can be the perfect way to spend this special day with your special friends. Paint your nails and put on a face mask. Don't be afraid to have deep conversations with your friends, or to talk about things you might have been holding in. Take care of yourself, and be there for your friends so they can do the same.

8. Go to something you all enjoy together.

Concerts? Pottery classes? Painting classes? The movies? Finding something you and your best friends all enjoy can be the perfect way to have a great time on Valentine's Day.

9. Have a photoshoot.

Note: don't follow the above GIF when having said photoshoot. On another note, if you like taking cute photos, then dress up cute, find a cute location, and grab your camera (or phone). Taking cute pictures can be a fun way to just be around the people you hold near and dear.

10. Dance the night away!

Grab your best friends, and dance the night away! Enjoy each others company, and have a good time. Sometimes just having fun with each other, not even doing anything extensive, is the perfect way to show your besties how much you love them.

Show your BFFs a little love this Valentine's Day!

An Open Letter To My Unexpected Best Friend

You came out of nowhere and changed my life for the better.

“It's so amazing when someone comes to your life and you expect nothing out of it, but suddenly, there right in front of you is everything you ever need."

Dear Unexpected Best Friend,

You were the person I never thought I would speak to and now you are my very best friend. You came out of nowhere and changed my life for the better. I can't thank you enough for everything you have done to shape me into the person I am today. You've taught me what it means to be selfless, caring, patient, and, more importantly, adventurous.

You don't realize how much better my life has become and all because you came out of nowhere. I didn't see you coming. I just saw you on occasion, and now I can't see my life without you in it. It's funny how life works itself out like that. Our unexpected friendship filled a hole in my life that I didn't know existed.

I don't even remember what life was like before you came along; it most likely had a lot less laughter and spontaneity than it does today. I can call you about anything and you would drop whatever you're doing to help me in any situation. You know when I need encouragement. You know when I am at my best and when I am at my worst. You always know exactly what to say.

I couldn't have found a better friend than you if I tried. We balance each other out in the best way possible. You are most definitely the yin to my yang, and I don't care how cliché that sounds. Because of you, I've learned to stop caring what people think and to do my own thing regardless of any backlash I might receive. You are my very favorite part of what makes me who I am to this day.

It's as if I wished up a best friend, and poof — you appeared right in front of me. I am so beyond blessed to have you and I wouldn't trade the world for all our memories. Thanks for coming out of nowhere.

Love you forever and a day.

The Power Of The Butterfly

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity" - Ecclesiastes 3:1

April, coined as a rather "bipolar" month, in which the weather in London is either cold or warm. It is a time of transition where summer slowly but surely encapsulates winter. As a result, rain is the norm and may be viewed as a byproduct of the seasonal passage. One might be lucky to witness a rainbow with its arches passing above each side of the River Thames. A jaw-dropping display of multi-colored flowers blooms all throughout London's parks. Out of all things London has to offer in April my favorite would be the entrance of the butterfly.

When I was a little girl I lived minutes walk from Primrose Hill Park, a grassy hill with terrific views of London. I enjoyed dog walks, picnics, and trips to the playground at this park, but nothing made me more excited than the sight of the butterfly. This intricate creature had a certain charm to it which fascinated me! In fact, I was so awe-struck by it that upon my eighth birthday I was gifted a butterfly catching kit. I recall spending numerous hours whether it be on my street or at Primrose Hill trying to catch these speedy critters. However, I never quite could so eventually I gave up and found another form of entertainment.

All in all, as the transition from winter to spring, individuals will start to notice the arrival of the butterfly. Although as a child, I never was able to catch one of these magnificent creatures I am now reminded that their sense of lightness and joy represents freedom. Their free spirit and individualism is a reminder to not take life too seriously; and that one should, ultimately, embrace the changes thrown at them. Ultimately, the butterfly flourishes with transformation metamorphosing from a caterpillar to a beautiful winged species. And yes I recognize humans cannot go through metamorphosis, but the butterfly should inspire us to ensure growth in our own lives by accepting change. So go forth and remember it is ok to feel vulnerable as all good things come with time and perseverance.
