Walking out of the theatre after viewing Wonder Woman the predominate feeling that subdued over me was pure amazement. Sure, previous films I’ve seen had left an impact on me before, but not like this one.
Gal Gadot, the actor portraying Wonder Woman, did an impeccable job illustrating all that the character embodies: strength, wisdom, and empowerment. Gadot is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen; however, what struck me most about her was that she wasn’t a size 00 or XXS with the typical golden blonde hair and ginormous breasts. She is a strong, built, Israeli woman. A.V. Club.com noted that, “Jenkins (director) leans overwhelmingly toward celebrating Wonder Woman’s athletic prowess over her sex appeal, and keeps her focused on her mission over her budding romance with Steve Trevor.” As a feminist myself, I was so impressed with this and I believe it is a great representation of what our generation believes.
Gadot, along with other aspects of this film, is why this movie shined. In fact, it even received 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. I would venture a guess to this because this movie had a semi-complex plot and questions human morality with incredible acting.
