Gladly

There are some advertisements that really make you stop and listen, listen to something meaningful and useful, and even if you don’t buy the product you feel glad that you’ve seen the ad. If only all adds were like that. Then comes the online pop-up ads, they seem to fill the page on your browser with totally useless information that is so irrelevant to you, such as holidays in Barbados that you may have searched once when dreaming about ideal summer destinations…

Well this is where Gladly comes in. Click bait ads are frustrating and a waste of time, and it only makes sense that we as individuals, should be able to control the ads we see and they should be effective in making us think - connecting with us. It puts the user in control of what ads they see, ensuring that your clear consent is given before data is shared.

Gladly operates two apps; the Goodblock (a genuinely good adblocker) and Tab for a Cause.

Apparently, the average American spends 24 hours a year in loading time for online ads. Most of us still wouldn’t download an Adblocker because you may not know what is really being downloaded or how long it’s going to take. We then suffer this vicious circle of seeing online ads and suffering slow internet which in this day and age is probably the number one most irritating issue. Goodblock gives you a clearer page with less ads, quicker loading times and you can select to see the ads that earn money for charity, you win with quicker internet and some of the great charities supporter my Gladly are winning to. You can download it for free here.

Tab for a Cause is so easy, there is no excuse for not downloading it! Every time you open a new tab and for many of us, having 23 tabs open is not unheard of, there is a banner ad in the corner, Gladly gets paid for these ads and then always gives at least half of the profit to their partner charities. Again, it’s totally free for you to use - and always will be. Every time you open up a new tab you get paid in Hearts, a online currency that you can then donate to whatever charity you want that works with us. After a certain amount of hearts, you level up! Start clicking and giving here.

This new online intuitive could be the best way to start fundraising; gone are the days of shaking the buckets! Some of the charities that work with Gladly are: Human Rights Watch, Room to Read, Conservation International, Save the Children and Water.org. You can see there is a wide variety of issues covered so there should be something for everyone to give. Gladly also goes one step further and ensures that the charities that receive the donations do an exceptional job of making sure that the dollars transform into positive impacts, meaning that you know the money is being used in the way you wanted it to.

Gladly is a well established initiative that continues to grow, below is an infographic summing up its 2015 run. All the money was raised from people like you sitting on your computer just clicking away. People like us managed to create a library in Vietnam, provide 651 people with clean water and much, much more. With this phenomenon growing, it is time to get involved. #Marchgladness is a college competition currently running now where universities compete against each other to recruit new Gladly users and raise money for charity. Of course Princeton have made it to the final four and are now looking to go all the way to the Championships, so click here to find out more about Galdly and their apps to help us get to do number one in the country!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
