With fall, my FAVORITE season, approaching in just a few months, we can all almost taste those pumpkin spice lattes and feel the warmth of our beloved vests and riding boots. However, as the seasons change, and we move back into school, there's always the potential for romance. Even if you think you're set to live a life of being a crazy cat lady, love is always in the air, especially in the fall. I've compiled a list of some fun and different fall-inspired date ideas that you and the current boyfriend can try, or maybe you found a new interest and you want to take things to the next level.
1. Berry/Apple Picking
Let's face it, this is an absolute must for those fall months. Apple picking or berry picking can be a great way to get to know each other, since there isn't much going on to distract you from conversation. Also, once you've picked enough apples or berries, you could go back and whip up some delicious recipes with all the fresh fruit you both just hand picked.
2. Horseback Riding
Find a local barn near you, and take a couple horses out on a nice autumn day. Not only does it give you an excuse to put on those super cute riding boots you've been dying to wear, but it's a good way to try something different with your boyfriend or date. This would be especially nice during the fall, since the trees and the scenery are extra beautiful.
3. Thermos Picnic
Before it gets too chilly, plan a date to have a picnic outside under the trees and pack everything in Thermos containers. They make great travel sets, so you could carry hot cocoa, soups or anything else that needs to stay warm. Don't forget to bring an extra blanket to snuggle under!
4. Go to a Football Game
For the more sporty people, try going to your college's football game or go to a tailgate. Nothing is more than fun than cheering on your school while being surrounded by hundreds of people that are doing the same. You and your date can also go a little crazy and paint your faces or even go all out and wear your school's colors from head to toe.
5. Hot Air Balloon Ride
This one is a bit different, but who hasn't ever thought of riding in a hot air balloon? If your not deathly afraid of heights, this could be a really cool date to try with someone who isn't afraid to do something outside of the box. Plus, it would be so romantic to be alone with your date up and away from everyone else.
6. Haunted Hayride/Haunted House
If you love a good thrill, you and your sweetie can go on a haunted hayride or haunted house tour. Be prepared to scream and laugh the night away!
7. Carve/Decorate Pumpkins
This is a classic, but it never fails. Go to a pumpkin patch during the day and find some of the biggest and best pumpkins. Then, take them back home, and spend the rest of the day carving them over a nice cup of coffee or hot cocoa. See who has the best design!
8. Fall Festival/County Fair
I personally love fall festivals and fairs because of all the delicious foods. Fried Oreos, caramel apples, fresh kettle corn, and the list goes on. Find out if any good fall festivals are going on in your town and make a trip! It's a great way to spend a gorgeous fall day outside and to fill your bellies with the best fall foods.
9. Go on a Fall Foliage Drive
Nothing is prettier on a fall day than those back roads surrounded in trees changing color. Take a day and drive through the best spots where the trees are beautiful shades of reds, yellows, and oranges. Bring some hot cocoa and snacks for the car ride, along with a perfect mix for the radio. Don't forget the camera!
10. Romantic Bonfire and Stargazing
Who doesn't love s'mores? Find a night and grab some blankets to create a romantic bonfire outside. Snuggle together by the fire and make s'mores. You could even amp up those traditional s'mores with fun fillings such as nutella, peanut butter cups or whatever else you could think of. Also, if you stay out long enough, you could stargaze together and maybe see a shooting star!
