The highly anticipated "Fuller House" made its debut a few weeks ago. Yet, because I’m not a subscriber to Netflix, my "Fuller House" experience has been delayed for quite some time. However, after hijacking my cousin’s Netflix password and username, I finally pursued that opportunity.
As a child, "Full House" was like my second home, mainly because of DVR. I had every desire after school to sit down and watch all the episodes that I hadn't seen before. After I watched all the episodes I started to watch them repeatedly. After a while, between the ages of 4 and 9, I knew every episode like it was on the back of my hand. My clear favorite characters were Joey (the funny one) and Jesse (the cool one).
So when I heard about the release of "Fuller House," I couldn't be more intrigued. As noted, it took longer than expected to see the show, but in the end, it left me with a few positives and negatives.
"Fuller House" nailed it with the introduction. It was wise to modernize the introduction a bit, because after all, it's been about 20 years since "Full House" aired last. I loved the flashbacks and how the special guests of the show were introduced using the same gyrations as the previous introduction.
While the scene did have a more tainted and cheesy kind of a feel, they still kept the layout pretty much the same. Is it because of the clearer graphics? It seemed like the set looked bright and fake. However, it could have been worse. The scene still sent a chill through avid "Full House" fans and brought back a lot of good memories.
To the educated fans of "Full House," the call out to Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) early in the show opened up a lot of eyes.
Negatives
Who are the new kids?
It’s strategic, I get it. The producers want to differentiate the original show and give some longevity to the new series. After all, they did just announce that the second season is happening, so things must be going well. However, after seeing the new kids, my gut reaction was: “Who are these kids? They shouldn't be here!”
I’ve said this before, but "Fuller House" appeared as a glowing mock-up of "Full House." From reviews of others, I’ve noticed that that was a specific point that was made.
Aside from the pros and cons -- it's fresh to see the cast together again. But who are we kidding? "Fuller House" could never top the original.
