Hot dogs are the best. Eating one can turn any day around. Douse that baby up with some ketchup and mustard, toast the bun, and BOOM. Perfection! While no hotdog will ever trump the ones grilled on the bow of a boat, the restaurants listed below come pretty close. Happy eating!

Dog-Et-Al

"With 10,230 different ways to fix a hot dog, there is a style for everyone" (quoted directly from their website). Dog-Et-Al is a Tallahassee legend. Their homemade potato chips and apple pies have the ability to make your tongue slap your GUM. My personal favorite is the corndog combo meal. Combined with the 1950's diner-like atmosphere, the experience at this establishment is one of a kind.

Voodoo Dog

This particular restaurant is one of the funkiest in Tallahassee. Located within walking distance from campus, it is usually filled with college students yearning to fill their hot-dog fix. Voodoo Dog's prices are also very college-student friendly. Their specialty is the Voodoo Dog, which is a hot dog wrapped in bacon, and THEN deep fried. They also offer hot dog toppings ranging from mac-n-cheese to avocado!

Checker's

People sleep on Checker's. There. I said it. When you're looking for something low-key, this is definitely a delicious option. With 4 different locations in Tallahassee AND a drive-thru, they make themselves as accessible as possible to the public. Not to mention their fries...

Donald L. Tucker Civic Center

Yep. You would be surprised how delicious these are. While they do not offer toppings (except for ketchup/mustard) and are a little overpriced, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to enjoy a nice hotdog while watching a basketball game.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
