Fuel Your Fire, Do Not Let Your Passion Be Smothered

Whenever I am passionate about something, I get this electric feeling that runs through my body. I try to maintain that enthusiasm as I am writing, drawing, or having an excited conversation with someone. Sometimes, there can be discouragement to that excitement. When being too excited, I get loud and may become obnoxious. While it is important to take into account one's own surroundings and people's personal spaces, a person's passion should not be snuffed out completely.

I know that I have a difficult time curbing my emotions and energy. Don't get me wrong, I do have my down days, but I really strive to be productive and creative. I value the fact that I can fuel my passion with my excitement, and because of that, I can accomplish what I want to do.

Keeping some childhood qualities such as passion, enthusiasm, and that sense of wonder is what keeps me going. Acting like a child or thinking like one is not what should be implemented. If that is the case, then I cannot grow as a person. I strongly believe that the qualities of having passion, enthusiasm and a sense of wonder is what can light a fire under people.

People always seem to become excited at the idea of growing up and being independent. To work hard and obtain the ideal job, have a nice car, marry the love of their life, and own a large house all sound like meaningful goals. But what happens when one reaches those goals? Will they ultimately be happy? What happened to the enthusiasm, passion, and sense of wonder that they had as a child? Did those qualities disappear?

I believe that there is more than just growing up and becoming independent in the world. A person should find a passion and hang onto it. To live alone and work hard at the ideal job may be nice, but I do not think it is awesome. To love a job enough to where you do not have to work a day in your life sounds like a fantasy to me. Their has to be hard work put into something that you love doing. It is the passion itself that should fuel your fiery compassion. Life would become dull and not colorful if all you did was work and receive the juicy benefits. In order to live an interesting life, one may acquire a set of skills and different pockets of knowledge. They may even awaken and harness a skill they never knew they had.

It all comes down to the enthusiasm, passion, and sense of wonder. With these qualities, a person may achieve a complete satisfaction in their life. Some elderly people may have achieved this satisfaction. They may have more or less have the qualities of having enthusiasm, passion, and a sense of wonder but at a lesser degree since they have already lived a lifetime. Elderly people also have the perspective of looking back on their life and ponder if they have made the right decisions.

With hindsight, I hope to make the right decisions and keep on believing in myself. To live a life of creativity and with compassion is what will make my journey exciting. With a fire lit under me, I hope to pass on some of that fire to others and inspire them to follow my example and learn from me. In that sense, I will gain a string sense of purpose and satisfaction in my life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
