Taylorville, Illinois. A small town in the middle of central Illinois. It may be small but it's full of a lot of love and memories. Here are some reasons how you know you're from Trailerville, I mean Taylorville.

1.Trailerville is what the out of towners say to try and insult you before a big game (or even after to try and fight)

2. Friday nights in the fall are made for football games

3. You know summer is officially here when everybody is on the square

4. Speaking of the square, everybody has their own spot/side

5. Country roads are a must when driving around, and you go the same route that will never get old

6. You also know what snake road is and people who regularly drive it

7. Tastee Treet is the go to shack for ice cream and is good for any day of the year

8. Your Dairy Queen isn't a chill and grill

9. Bill's Toasty has the best fried food you can find and is the place to go (especially after midnight)

10. You already have an idea of where to work when you hit high school - Angelos.

11. You see a cornfield know matter where you drive

12. You can never know how the weather is going to be the next day

13. It can possibly snow in the middle of April, and be summer weather in the middle of December

14. You know basically every one

15. Your family probably lives a block away from you, or even 10 minutes away

16. You have to drive out of town to go to the mall and it doesn't bother you

17. Everybody knows who Look Down Larry is, and knows not to mess with him

18. You know that Carp is not a just a fish

19. You know just how "clean" Lake Taylorville, but you still swim in it anyways

20. The lake is the hotspot to go watch Fireworks on the Fourth of July

21. You're set if one of your friends owns a lake lot because you can go out to the lake and have fires every night in the summer

22. You know all about how there are three water towers and not just one

23. You've lost count on how many tractors you've got stuck behind in the country

24. Jaynes used to be the place to hang out on the weekends, and meet up with all your friends

25. The Christian County Pageant starts off the county fair, and you've most likely known someone in it

26. The county fair is one of the best events to happen in town, and almost everybody comes out

27. The demo derby's can be heard anywhere, and that's when you know the county fair has come to an end

28. Purple Reign isn't just a song by Prince

29. You take pride in The Dolph and will never forget it

30. You tell people who aren't from central Illinois where you're from, odds are they've never heard of it

31. There's a gas station around every corner

32. You go to the square in fall just to eat some of the best chili

33. There's country music playing almost everywhere

34. Homecoming dress up days always include some sort of country idea

35. You know it's small, but you're going to leave with the biggest memories

Yes, Taylorville is small. Yes, there is not always a lot to do all of the time. Your friends are always there you, especially to help you out when you get stuck.. whether that be in general, or in the mud. But I love this town and will never wish that I could have grown up in any other town besides Trailerville. Tville Pride is where its at.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
