F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Reminders

The best of us need to be reminded of life's ways.

Despite celebrating two decades, the great comedy show F.R.I.E.N.D.S. continues to make me laugh through all the ups and downs of my life. The realistic characters and their lives connect so well with the audience that even many generations after, people are still celebrating the greatness of this show. More than entertainment, though, F.R.I.E.N.D.S. has always been an eminent reminder to me of how life really should be lived--through it's biggest reminders.

1. Being grown up doesn't mean that you have to act like an adult all the time; unleash your inner child every once in a while.

Letting loose, forgetting your worries and simply reenacting your childhood is probably one of the most effect stress busters. At times, being a child is all we really need in order to make decisions and sort things out.

2. Your siblings, no matter how lame and weird, always have your back.

No matter how annoying your little sibling may be, they will always have your back--whether it's in a dance-off or helping you tread through life.

3. You don’t always need a ‘plan’ to succeed and sometimes, not actually having one helps you get the struggle you need

When Rachel left Barry at the altar and came to Monica's, she had no plans and no knowledge of the real world. She got through. With support and a little determination, she struggled and eventually started working her dream job.

4. You shouldn’t worry about the world around you; be yourself and own it

You don't owe an explanation to anyone as to why you are the way you are. Stand up with your head like Phoebe, and own your passions and personality--after all, it's the best part of you.

5. Getting older is so, incredibly scary.

When we were younger, we looked terribly forward to our birthdays. Presents and parties--it was all we looked forward to. Everything changes when we are one year closer to our thirties; we want to stay young and free of responsibilities and more bills.

6. Sharing is caring, but that neverrrrr applies to food

Self-explanatory, no?

7. True love always wins in the end. There’s a lobster made for you, my friend. You just have to find yours

According to Phoebe, once lobsters mate they are soulmates for life. Whether it's Chandler and Monica or Rachel and Ross, true love will always find its way to you even if it doesn't work out the first time.

8. At the end of the day, it's about the people that make us be more of ourselves. Find those people and keep them forever.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
