"Friends" is hands down one of the funniest, yet weirdly relatable, shows that's become popular for our generation to talk about and laugh over. Each character has their weird quirks and traits that make them distinctly different from each other and very loved at the same time. If each "Friends" character was a state school, here's what I think they would be.
Monica: Alabama.
Monica is the girl who low-key gets under everyone's skin because she's so annoying with her cleaning and organization and craving for a good competition, but you learn to love her because at the end of the day she's always right. It's annoying because you don't want her to keep winning in her petty arguments and bets, but a win is a win. (This refers to episode where they play football for Thanksgiving and Monica just can't let it go.) Monica Geller is easily the Alabama of the college world with her subtle charm, hunger for competition, better and winning life, and lovable annoyance that you either love or hate.
Rachel: Ole Miss.
Did you honestly think Rachel would fit in anywhere else? Rachel is the one boys want, the girl with all the sass and charm bundled into a perfect package. She is the one who doesn't know what she wants, and also the girl that can turn a 180 with her life, or in this case, football.
Rachel Green not only represents Ole Miss because of her beauty and charm, but because she came to New York, re-evaluated her life and eventually landed a job with Ralph Lauren. Ole Miss did something similar this year and beat Alabama. No one saw it coming but it was much appreciated. It was definitely a confidence booster just how Rachel's job was for her.
Phoebe: SCAD.
If you don't know what SCAD is, it stands for Savannah College of Art and Design. Yes, it's not an SEC school, but when has Phoebe ever gone with what's normal? It doesn't even require an explanation from me to know that Phoebe is the wild card of the friend group; the unique one who does literally whatever she wants with an artsy twist.
Phoebe Buffay might actually be the first "hipster" to walk the planet with her strange style, even weirder songs, and eccentric taste in everything she does. SCAD being an arts school is no doubt a school breeding lots of artsy and creative people. Phoebe would fit in perfectly there.
Ross: Texas A&M.
Oh, Ross. What are we going to do with you? You are so incredibly annoying yet absolutely hilarious at the same time. You are the example of the "good guy" on the show with your stable job, cookie cutter life in the eyes of your parents, and the pursuit of everything done in the right and honest way. Sure you may have had a few bumps along the way (cough, cough – your lesbian wife and multiple divorces), but you always figure it out in the long run and leave us wanting more.
Chandler: Auburn.
Where else would Chandler fit in? He's sarcastic, hilarious, always the butt of a bad joke, the one who knows what he wants but just has a little trouble getting there sometimes. He is all–around a fabulous guy. Much like Auburn, Chandler has some pretty great wins (his proposal to Monica, his "cool" college days, and his job that keeps him somewhat busy).
Chandler somehow always seems to be the laughing stock or the quick funny friend jab, but also the one with a really good comeback (0:01, always). Sometimes you don't want to like him because you think he could be doing so much more if he would just apply himself a little more (Auburn's football team) but at the end of the day he's still number one in your heart.
Joey: LSU.
Poor Joey. With his complete lack of common sense – or any kind of sense, for that matter, and his love for all things seemingly unimportant in life, you can't help but love him. He has a weird, yet refreshing outlook on life in that you can't take it too seriously and you just have to do what makes you happy. Much like LSU, he has a since of pride that he carries around with him but it's never too excessive and it's something people admire.
