Friends Changing With The Season

The list of hearts we touch and the hearts who have touched ours is an endless list of love, pain, joy and longing. From the days of scraped knees and dirt stains on white t-shirts, we have been making friends that will have an incredible impact on our lives. But just like the weather, our friends who were there throughout it all, begin to fade and go on to touch another part of the world.

We grow older and the human connections do not stop. The relationships keep going until our network of friends seems endless. Those girls you ate lunch with every day in high school are now doing great things with their lives. One may be getting married while another is traveling around the world saving elephants from extinction. The love for those high school friends will never go away, but why did the season have to change? It seems like a cruel joke sometimes. We plant our seeds with beautiful people, just to have the wind blow and the pedals be taken elsewhere.

I wish I could tell you that when you reach a certain age, the seasonal friendships stop. Unfortunately, it never will. As you embark on new journey's like college, careers and the decision to move across the country, you will continue to make friends. I wish they could stay in your life forever. I wish that the season never changed and those people would always be as constant in your life as they were 3 years ago. But life does not work that way.

But let me tell you the best part of it all...

The seasons always come back around as if nothing had even changed at all. The friends you danced around the dorm with in college will bump into you on the street corner and you will talk as if time never even lapsed. The summer flowers you thought had died from winter's sharp bite were merely waiting for the season to come back around.

The relationships you have built with the many wonderful people will all come back around as the earth turns. You will find new people to trust, new people to love and new people to create adventures with. Do not let the fear of the changing seasons keep you from making incredible connections with beautiful souls. You never know who can change your life.

Love every second of your crazy, beautiful life. Go to the party and shake hands with a stranger. Laugh so hard that your face turns red. It is okay to meet people and it is okay for them to leave. Like every spring, you will fall in love with new flowers.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
