Summer has begun, and I'm sure all of you are looking for ways to spend your free time, time that is not busy with internships and summer jobs, that is. That's exactly when you need to take a trip to the movies! With a blockbuster summer ahead of us, there's a movie to fit everyone's taste. I've broken it down by my top picks for the week, so that you’ll (hopefully) have something to look forward to every Friday night. This first list will get you through May and June, with another article coming later in the summer to get you through July and August.

Alice Through the Looking Glass

Release date: May 27

In true Tim Burton fashion, Alice will take us back to the world of Wonderland. Now if you remember the original film from 2011, there’s quite a few big stars, Johnny Depp, Ann Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter, to name a few, who will all be making their return in this sequel. This film is nothing like the tale of Alice and Wonderland you may remember as a child, as this follows Lewis Caroll’s sequel "Through the Looking-Glass."

Me Before You

Release date: June 3

This is another film that is based upon a novel. This time though, it’s a story you’re probably less familiar with. I myself came across this film as a trailer preview on YouTube. Don't let the trailer fool you: this isn't just another love story.

The Conjuring 2

Release Date: June 10

The Conjuring introduced us to Ed and Lorraine Warren, a married couple who are a set of paranormal investigators whose reports of a haunting inspired "The Amityville Horror." This time, Ed and Lorraine’s work takes them across the pond to investigate a case in England.

Finding Dory

Release Date: June 17

Remember 2003? I was still in elementary school. And that’s when "Finding Nemo" was first released. For years now there’s been rumors of a sequel and this summer we will have one. Finding Dory is set to be released June 17, after being long awaited. After helping Marlin find his family, this time it's Dory’s turn to find her own.

I couldn’t decide on a pick of the week for the week of June 24th, so use this week to play catch-up from the previous weeks. Here are a few suggestions:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

X-Men: Apocalypse

Now You See Me 2

The Legend of Tarzan

Release Date: July 1

Here’s another film that can take us all back to our childhoods, while keeping us firmly rooted in our young-adult lives. Tarzan is no longer the friendly animated character from a Disney film but instead this time he can be viewed in 3D if you care to do so. Tarzan has left the jungles he was raised in to move to London with his wife Jane. Now he finds himself serving as on behalf of Parliament in Africa.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
