Friars Didacus Maria Cortes and Gabriel Cortes are possibly the coolest religious brothers you will ever meet. The men wear long gray robes and constantly carry prayer rosaries because they have taken vows to dedicate themselves to God and join the Catholic order called the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate. But don't let the humble garb fool you. They also skateboard and help to run an active media outlet. The friars, who both live in Bloomington, Indiana, are now upping their game to make a short film recreating miraculous events that happened 100 years ago. In 1916, as World War I raged across Europe, an angel appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal and told them to pray for an end to the war. The following year, the Blessed Virgin Mary also appeared to the children, repeated the call to prayer and sacrifice, and worked many miracles. Friars Didacus and Gabriel want to bring this message to the modern world. They're using technology that would make any film guru drool: a drone, a camera crane (or "jib"), 4K video cameras, CGI, and real live sheep. They hope to finish the film and release it on their website by Christmas.
