Knowing 4th of July was approaching, I began to stress about having to make plans and buy and outfit for 4th of July celebrations. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I really didn't want to go anywhere for 4th of July. First of all, this is my first day off in a while, and I kind of just wanted to enjoy it at home with some pizza and Netflix. As well, I also have about two or three exams this week and I knew if I went out I wouldn't be properly prepared. Therefore, I made the decision to celebrate 4th of July at home alone this year, and I don't regret it at all!

Take a Nap

One thing you realize when you become an adult is that summer vacation doesn't really exist anymore. You've been working so hard these last few months, and who knows when you will get another day off. Enjoy the 4th of July by sleeping in, and maybe taking one or two naps throughout the day. Your body will thank you for it, trust me!

Have a one person BBQ

Just because you don't feel like going out this 4th of July doesn't mean you can't celebrate like you normally would. Buy some hamburgers and hot dogs, pour yourself a drink, and enjoy your one person BBQ by the pool. If anyone deserves it, it's you.

Watch Netflix till your Heart is content

Who knows when you will get another day to binge watch that new Netflix show? Why spend the day drinking in heat, knowing you are going to regret it tomorrow, when you can have a nice responsible day alone, under the covers with your favorite Netflix shows. You know for sure you won't regret when you have to wake up at 7am to get to work tomorrow.

Read a book

Again, when will you every have time to read all these books you keep buying! Fourth of July is your only chance, and you better take it. Throw on your bathing suit, grab a drink and your favorite book, and head to the pool. A nice quite day working on your tan and your new favorite book is just what you need to rejuvenate before work tomorrow.

Enjoy Fireworks from your porch

Finally, you've enjoyed a fulfilling Fourth of July, and you didn't even have to go anywhere. You slept in, took some naps, binged watched some Netflix, and maybe even read a book or two. Now it is time for what we all been waiting for. The final act of Fourth of July, the firework show. If you decide to stay home and watch it from you porch, or go to Disney and enjoy a firework extravaganza, at least make sure that you are enjoying yourself and doing what you really want to do, not what you feel obligated to just because it's the Fourth of July

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
